IML in Chicago redux

Here we go again. IML is fast upon us, and RM is filling up with ads for some of the hottest men on the planet.

 

Problem is, I've given up on hiring during that period since it seems like IML turns otherwise incredibly solid people into total flakes. At least they're honest about it, along the lines of "I got totally blitzed last night and can hardly move". Not so great are the just plain no shows - although hanging around a hotel lobby for an hour during IML does give the chance to see lots of eye candy. This "turning into a flake" phenomenon also infect otherwise solid people who I've had a great time with in other venues.

 

Any hints for making a good hire during IML?

What is IML? I do note that Chicago has four or five times as many ads on RM as they usually have. On the other hand it is still only a third of what NYC has on a normal day and not as many top choices. But they are keeping rates down $250/hr

it's one of the biggest leather conventions around, held every year Memorial Day in Chicago.

Chicago has fewer escorts than LA and NYC in large part because there are fewer actors and models who need to supplement their earnings and/or need a job with hours that can flex around modeling and acting gigs. That's NOT to say every escort in LA and NYC is an actor or model, but that is one of the reasons those two cities have proportionally more escorts than Chicago. Having said that, one of my favorite Chicago-based escorts in the 1990's was an attorney who was saving to start his own practice.
