I noticed today that RM has added a feature that states under the primary photo that the model's photo or identity has been verified. There's also a little icon on the photo that indicates this. Does anyone know HOW RM is conducting the verification?

To verify my photos, I had to send a pic of myself saying "Rentmen" and the date. To verify my identity, it asked for a scan of my passport (?!). Like hell that's gonna happen.

Ah.. So that explains why so few escorts are ID verified. An escort would be nuts to give RM a copy of his passport.

 

Obvious conclusion is that Rentmen ID verification, or lack thereof, means nothing. The photo verification comes in a close second on the meaningless scale as the person who shows up may bear no resemblance to the "verified" escort.

Not sure I get your second point. If you aren't the guy in the pics, the pics aren't verified.

Yes - RM verifies that the photos of the guy in the ad match the dated photo sent to RM in their verification process. That may have nothing to do with who shows up as in this guy's recent experience: http://www.companyofmen.org/threads/even-with-verification-bait-switch-still-exists.113730/

 

Ah, good point. I guess it's no comfort that the guy in the pics had to have at least have been complicit.

 

I don't know how any site could fight that, though.

I think the photo verification goes a long way to address the concern and am glad to see it. There is still the possibility that has occasionally been mentioned of person A fronting for another(s) but that seems rare.

 

Regarding ID verification there's no way I'd send a copy of a government issued ID with my personally identifiable information into a cyber black hole - I don't even let my doctor's receptionist make a copy of my drivers license and he sticks his finger in my butt.

 

All said, kudos to RM to at least acknowledge the issue.

Yeah, I'm not sure why person A would want to have his pics on the net advertising for someone else.

It sounds like you could send anyone's photos in with date and Rentmen's name on it and have those photos verified as yours, even if they are not?

Not sure how the ID thing works since so many use fake names or at least I assume.

Yeah I don't know how strict they are with that rule. Faker was using fake pictures, in my sleuthing I had managed to find the real picture person twitter account. I sent him a message, he laughed about it but in an OMG WTF way. Rentmen kept saying they have obtained reasonable proof the escort ad person was real, despite the fact that the real picture person was sending them messages to remove the ad. So its meh. I don't really trust rentmens verification process.. that's why I have all of you lovely people :D

I was just posting gifs with "just kidding".. it was a joke, it wasn't meant to be against you or anybody else. Some folks on here don't get sarcasm/jokes/double meaning... I was just making a joke and I'm glad you allegedly got it, yet you got offended with 1 out of 4 gifs you though were dedicated to you. o_O

 

If you had sent me a PM I would remove that gif and not the other 4 but I won't do it because I think it's the funniest of them all.

 

I was just making a joke about the fear to show an ID by some escorts while the company (RM) already has their address, full name, etc (the same things that appear in the ID)

 

Please don't take yourself too seriously, 100 gif... 80% of my posts are pics in the gallery, guilty as charged, if you don't like pics or gifs don't go to the gallery.

Saw the same ad the used to be published on rentboy and backpage, http://rentmen.com/Diegobuenosaires. The ad has a verified ID but all the pictures are old ones of bodybuilder Mattia Vecchi, who resides and is competing in Italy currently. Since I've met with the person in the ad previously and I know it is fake even though they look similar except the advertiser is smaller and has tons of tattoos.
