Escort's experiences in the South?

There's many big cities in the South, but with the conservative nature of many such as N.C. and Miss., is this a region that's more or less sustainable? Likewise in relation to pay, how do rates hold up. More or less than other regions?

 

Specifically speaking outside of Atlanta; you have Raleigh, Charlotte, Nashville. There's also the smaller satellite cities like Little Rock, Memphis, S.C. All of which seem low in demand

Charlotte proper is NOT conservative. The suburbs are---especially toward Lake Norman, Rock Hill, and Monroe, but not Charlotte. Raleigh is also not particularly conservative. In NC, urban areas are very Democratic in politics, and outside them tends to be very conservative.

Hmmm, interesting. But see...if places outside a city are very conservative, to me that doesn't really change the fact. All these places that claim to be liberal and dem in the city despite their ultra conservative city cores, are just "backsliding" from their cultural norms. Once you get to know them, then you realize their conservatism is deep rooted.

 

If going 10 miles outside of the city center is going to cause discomfort, to me that's just not far enough to label a city "liberal".

There is demand in Mississippi/Memphis/Birmingham, but you just won't make that much money. There's not enough concentration of wealth to sustain you, unless your rates are extremely low. The few guys who do it professionally for a living actually survive by traveling a circuit. They will be in Atlanta for a few days one week, then hit Birmingham for a few days the next, then Nashville the next, etc. The only city in the South where you can really make a living is Atlanta.

I live in Little Rock (gasp!), and -- as you might imagine -- there are very few escorts in this area. There used to be more. So when escorts travel through, I frequently hire them. In recent years, the same half dozen or so escorts keep coming back, but there haven't been many fresh faces.

 

I know some of the ones who do come back have built up regular clients. About a year ago I asked one of the escorts who advertises almost exclusively in comparable southern cities (Birmingham, Memphis, Jackson) what his business is like. He said that the lack of competition is a definite plus, but that he always advertises well in advance to see if he gets any bites. If he doesn't, then he changes his plans.

 

As for rates, we're not NYC, LA, etc. So $300 around here would raise some eyebrows. Lodging is cheap, as well.

Liberal doesn't always mean good for business, apparently. There is no state more liberal than Oregon - we have the most porn shops per capita in the country yet very, very few professionals.

@ hombolt...I was recently in Little Rock for a couple days earlier this month. Other than a wicked morning storm that woke me up (In many areas shit doesn't get ramped up that bad until after 2 pm), I Had a couple clients...and my favorite fast food joint "Sharks" is there. However, Little Rock can feel very seedy to me, and something about it feels very unrefined. For the most part, there's not much going on to stay much more than a night or 2. I actually had an interesting experience there with a straight guy who would likely be gay for pay. Or drugs lol.

 

@ Tyler and Ace...yeah I've done the Birmingham thing before but it didn't really strike me as a good spot. However, Atlanta is a buyer beware, YRMV kind of town. It doesn't strike me as a place I could make a living since I've only ever had 1 client there 6-7 years ago after several days of advertising. I haven't been in a rush to go and book a hotel, so waiting for an outcall again one of these days.
