Looking back now, I can totally see where we let down our guard and allowed ourselves to get caught, but at the time, we were just so caught up in the moment and, I guess, not thinking as clearly as we usually do.

During our trip to CA last week, we did lots of sightseeing in between appointments. While driving down the coast from SF in a rented PT Cruiser convertible, we saw a breathtaking sunset from Big Sur, picnicked at Pebble Beach, and stopped at the über-tacky Madonna Inn and Hearst Castle. Once we got to LA, we spent time on the beach (me in my little bikini, Derek in his sexy trunks) and at the Getty Museum, brunched at the House of Blues, and saw as many Frank Lloyd Wright homes as we could. We took an extensive tour of the interior and exterior of the incredible Ennis-Brown house, which FLW designed in the 20's. It's a huge house high in the Hollywood Hills, one of the first residences constructed from concrete block, which is in need of repair from the last big earthquake. This is it:

Before that, we had gone to see the Hollyhock House, which Wright again designed in the 20's:

The interior has been closed for years for renovations (they've apparently run out of funds) but you can take a self-guided walking tour of the grounds. It was while we were strolling about the exterior of the house that Derek spotted an open door by the kitchen...a door that was obviously supposed to be locked. Unable to resist temptation, we walked right in. That was thrilling; not only was the inside amazing (a fireplace with a moat in the hearth!) but just being where we weren't supposed to be was quite a thrill. We made it through the kitchen and living room, and we were on our way to the bedrooms when Derek spotted a security guard coming toward the house, so we quickly got away from that window and were heading back to the kitchen door when suddenly he was there in front of us, saying, "Gentlemen, I am going to have to ask you to leave. You are trespassing." I said, giggling like a schoolgirl, "Oh, was this not part of the self-guided tour? Hee-hee." Then we continued walking around the exterior, and when we got to the Ennis-Brown house later that day, we were the heroes of that tour.

Hey, it wasn't my fault. When Derek sees an opening, he can never resist getting inside. And I am always along for the ride. :p

RE:Egg Crate

The Ennis-Brown house is one of Wright's finest works. I've not seen it in person and envy your experience. Every time I think of Wright I get depressed because architecture would have been my second career choice. Unfortunately, I went into #1.

I just checked it out on the web to refresh my memory. Did you get any interior photos? I note that (when the house was open to the public) interior photos were not allowed. I also noted that wearing high heels inside was a no-no. (Now here's a straight line for you, Rick, if ever there was one!)

(On a randier note, messing around with a cute guy in one of its bedrooms would be an experience of cosmic proportions... Hope you seized the opportunity!!)

But it is much better to go into #1 instead of stepping in #2. :+

No, they still don't allow interior photos, because this house is often rented for photo shoots and films (it's been the setting of various commercials and movies like 1999's "House on Haunted Hill") and they desperately need the money (an additional 2 million dollars, to be precise) to finish necessary repairs. Allowing us to take photos would degrade the value of charging ad agencies, etc., for the same privilege.

Well, I didn't wear heels, but just today someone wrote and asked if I'd dress up in womens' panties for him. I'm still thinking about it...crotchless could be hot. ;-)

Actually, I'd prefer to do it in the master bathroom. I love the sunken tub...perfect height for a shower BJ. :9

This is where I thought we would get a blow by blow description of you and "D" doin' the security guard. Alas, as you didn't mention he was a hunk, I must assume he was a real turd!

This may be true, however, if you had the same ego that FLW had, which was needed to pull off the kind of one man show that he did, then you would not have even had a #2 career choice. It's part of what made the mans work so great.

Envy you Rick, been wanting access to that house for years.
