The one-man play, "Confessions of a Mormon Boy" is playing in Utah. While it might not have appeal for many people, I found it to be very interesting. However, some references and jokes may not be understood without a Mormon background.

According to one reviewer it is the story of "...growing up in the Mormon faith, his struggle with his homosexuality, his marriage, the birth of his children, his excommunication, his stint as a high-paid male prostitute, and more.

Unfortunately, I don't know his escort name but here's a recent picture.

Anyone ever experience him and wish to share their story?

I had the privilege of meeting him when he was escorting for a brief time in NY. An awesome body, a killer smile, a sweet personality, great conversation and just fabulous in bed. Oh...I miss him already! :9

It played in NYC in August.

Confessions of a Mormon Boy

Confessions of a Mormon Boy, a new autobiographical, one-person play written and performed by Steven Fales and directed by Tony Award-winner Jack Hofsiss, is performed as part of the New York International Fringe Festival.

Told with humor, song, and the Book of Mormon, in his unflinchingly honest comic/dramatic monologue, Steven Fales, a sixth-generation Mormon, plays over 25 characters from his highly distinctive life's journey as a gay Mormon, a Boy Scout ("Eagle"), missionary to Portugal, BYU graduate, husband, father, and Manhattan escort. Confessions details his failed attempt to overcome his "same-sex attraction" through "reparative therapy," resulting in his divorce and excommunication from the Mormon Church. Shortly after coming out, Fales left his home, wife and two children in Utah and moved to New York City where he hoped to come to terms with the pain, anger and confusion of his situation. While struggling to make it as an actor, he became a high-end male escort-for-hire (a.k.a. prostitute) in a period he calls his "gay adolescence." Fales tells what it took to leave the world of prostitution and drugs, re-establish a life of integrity, and reclaim his "Donny Osmond" smile.

This play has been published; it is available on-line at

The published text is the “original 2001 Utah version” --- apparently the play has since been extensively re-written. The published version is full of Mormon material – plenty of references to Mormon doctrine and stories about the author’s experiences as a missionary and about his excommunication from the church. There is very little about his gay life in New York and nothing at all about his experiences as an escort. I guess he didn’t think that Utah audiences were ready for that sort of thing in 2001.

Quite frankly, most people in Utah have never heard of a MALE escort. Thank goodness some of us are more enlightened. }(

Thanks for the link to the original script. I'm anxious to read through it and see what changes have been made. My impression was that the current version had gone through a lot of "tweaking".

I'm resurrecting this VERY old thread because I saw "Confessions of a Mormon Boy" last night (it's running through 4/15 at the Coast Playhouse in WeHO). The play in its current incarnation definitely includes a lot of information regarding the author's escorting activities, including a couple of fairly graphic descriptions of client interactions. It's definitely worth seeing-- and not just for the naughty bits.

By the way, the author states that he used the name "Jason" while escorting-- and I gather from the timeline described in the piece that he was in the business in the late '90s through maybe 2002 or so. I wonder if he ever got reviewed here?

I saw this in LA a couple of weeks ago. Fales says that he has been diagnosed with a narcissistic personality disorder, and it shows! I wondered if people would watch this were he not cute as it is essentially a VH-1 Behind The Music type of coming out story. He does still have a great body.

One thing that made me wonder a little, and here is A SPOILER ALERT, but Fales is cute with that mop of hair on his head. But it isn't real! After he removes it, one sees him in such a different light...a longer nose, higher forehead and no longer is he so cute. He's bald! So a little (or a lot) of hair goes a long way! At least if you want to have that boyish look.
