The CDC has confirmed the first reported case of the Zika virus being sexually transmitted between two men.

Zika infection can be contracted through unprotected anal sex. […]

“The take-home message is you have to consider any kind of intimate contact between an infected person with Zika and a non-infected person as a potential risk situation, regardless of gender,” said Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Diseases Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota.

Very, very bad if you are pregnant. Otherwise, it is like a mild case of the flu lasting only a few days.

Speaking of the flu, it is important to remember that the flu can be transmitted by being around an infected person, whether you engage in protected or unprotected sex or no sex at all. More people die from the flu on the US than from Zika.

Interesting that they only say it's transmitted through unprotected anal sex. They don't talk about unprotected vaginal sex for heterosexuals.

It's touched on in Dr. Osterholm's statement with his specification "regardless of gender."
