This is a special on Dateline NBC tonight. It is the story of Aron Ralston, the hiker who got stuck in a Utah canyon and had to cut off his hand to escape.

 

What an emotional and inspiring story!! There are only 15 minutes left in the show and I wish I had a VCR going to tape it. Rarely has a TV show emotionally touched me as much as this special.

 

Can hardly wait to read his book "Between a Rock and a Hard Place".

He didn't just cut off his hand. He cut off his arm just below the elbow. Quite an amazing story, indeed.

What a coincidence that he has a book coming out...

The NYT review of this show seems to make the hero rather a nutcase.

I only saw the clip on the Brokaw news, and that did not motivate me to watch the whole show. But, if you enjoyed it, then I say good for you!

This is being rebroadcast tonight on NBC. I'd really recommend watching it. One of the most interesting and emotional interviews I've seen.
