Did Rentmen removed the "safe sex" information tab?

It seems to have gone away in the last few days.

While the truthfulness of the escort's answer to this was always open to question, it was convenient for enabling one to eliminate the "anything goes" from consideration.

Anyone know why?

I used it today, you may have to clear your cache or something.

Hi guys. We had a similar exchange last night about this topic with other forum members. It seems to be a browser issue. You can see it on safari but not other browsers. Check out this thread: http://www.companyofmen.org/threads/rentmen-censoring.112449/#post-1069124

Didn't Rentmen restrict other profile data to members only a few months ago? I wonder if this is part of the same initiative to either appear more discreet on the surface, or to drive more people to create member profiles.

Right now with my iPad/safari I'm not seeing "safe" OR "position" preference? I checked like 3 ads??

Edit about an hour later - using the iPad/Safari the "mobile" version of Rentmen shows all prefs, position, safe, etc. but when I scroll to the bottom and click on "full site" (which I prefer vs mobile) the prefs discussed disappear?

I can see it. Does anyone understand the purpose of "ask me" as a response to the safe sex question? If an escort is safe only, he should say so. To me, ask me is basically a tacit way of saying anything goes. Am I missing something?

Yes, an entire thread on the issue.

There is no such thing as safe sex (other than masturbation) and no one definition. The closest one can get is safer/riskier.

While it’s a bit cumbersome, it appears that the same information is available by search filter, at least for me. So, if I click on an individual advertiser, there is no information about “position” or “safety.” But these categories do appear on the “search filter” column on the right side of the screen when viewing all the advertisers in a given location. And if you click on a given box, you’ll find all the advertisers with that characteristic, including the individual on whom you were originally seeking information.

After the RB fiasco, which involved the government seizing computers filled with personal information, I would be hesitant to sign up with any similar site, as this could potentially be misconstrued by “the authorities” at some point down the line. Or maybe I’m just paranoid.

Too late for me to worry about it! I signed up thinking I was living in an enlightened age. Of course this was pre-Trump, Cruz, et al. Oh well, the pursuit of happiness is highly overrated anyway.

And now I just noticed that one can no longer see an advertiser's phone number without creating an account and logging in. That seems like a really stupid change to me.

Really? I actually think that's a good change.

I don't have a Rentmen account & can still see the advertisers

phone numbers.

To each his own. I don't want to provide my email address to Rentmen, and one of the ways I check out the veracity of ads is doing a Google search of the phone number.

Maybe this is an option for advertisers now. Let me check out other ads.

...

Just checked out another ad and the phone number displayed. Interesting. Either this is a new option where they are allowing advertisers to hide their numbers unless a viewer is logged in or they are in the middle of making a change and it just hasn't impacted every ad yet.

I would like to reiterate that the original servers RB was hosted on were never recovered because the DOJ does horrible work. Those servers remained online in Houston for several months after the raid until the hosting provider shut the servers down for nonpayment. Records such as client logins would only be on those servers and not the escort list which would have been kept on the office computers. Also, if one were that paranoid, it is easy to make a second, third, fourth, twentieth GMail account under a false name.

While relying on government incompetence is usually a safe bet, it’s at least theoretically possible they will learn from their mistakes and be more careful next time.

In terms of signing up for emails, I do note that it’s much harder than it used to be to obtain an address without forking over personal information. For example, when I originally signed up for hotmail and yahoo emails years ago, there was no need to provide a phone number. But when I signed up for a new yahoo email recently, I had to provide a valid phone number for “verification purposes.” I used a tracfone number that was relatively cheap to acquire, but I have now been locked out of my account because they want me to “re-verify,” and I no longer have that phone. Given the sweeping assertions of authority that law enforcement has made against Apple recently, I would not be surprised if they try to eliminate the relative anonymity of “burner” phones next.

In any event, I, like manisoma, am not inclined to provide my email address to RM, and I think their recent webpage changes are unfortunate and misguided.

Have you tried gmail? I have never had to verify anything to get a gmail account.

Google now requires a phone number to sign up for an Gmail account. However, I did some research, and there appear to be some ways to “trick” their system. Using one of these techniques, I was able to create an email address just now without providing any personal information (other than my IP address of course). I am still not sold on creating a RM account, but it is worth thinking about…
