Leonardo DiCaprio and Brie Larson will win, but Michael Fassbender actually did a better job in a more challenging role. DiCaprio should have won for the Aviator many years ago--a great movie (Scorsese's best since The Raging Bull). I also loved Saoirse Ronin in Brooklyn.

My three favorite movies this past year were in order: Mad Max Fury Road (an incredible movie from start to finish about a dystopic world), Brooklyn a small movie with a heart of gold, and The Martian a movie that got everyone cheering when I saw it.

The Revenant will probably win, but in my opinion it was way too long.

I haven't seen either performance, but this seems to be the going expectation. I am only chiming in on this thread to agree that ...

I loved Saoirse Ronin in Brooklyn.

A lovely film and a beautiful performance ... sweet and brave and tender.

I could never root for an actor in a movie in which a bear gets to maul Leo DiCaprio and that bear is not me. So despite that fact that the Best Actor Oscar is already bought and paid for, I will hope for Eddie Redmayne in the Danish Girl. And Brie Larson is odds on for Room.

I love Marty but The Aviator was a bloated, big budget piece of overlong shit. Leo sucked, Cate wasn't anything remotely like Hepburn.

So here's my predictions plus who I voted for.

Best Picture (honestly I haven't met a single voter who loved any one of the films)

Will win: The Revenant

Should win: Testament of Youth (wasn't nominated)

I voted for: The Martian

Best Director

Will win: Irriatu for the second straight year, first time in 65 years that's happened)

Should win: Ridley Scott (wasn't nominated)

I voted for: Irraitu (or however the heck it is spelled)

Best Actress

Will win: Brie Larson

Should win: Charlotte Rampling

I voted for: Charlotte Rampling

Best Supporting Actress

Will win, should win, I voted for: Alicia Vikander

Best Supporting Actor

Will win, should win, I voted for: Sylvester Stallone (I also think this is the category where I could see a potential upset with Ryland, Bale or Ruffalo taking it)

Best Foreign Language Film

Will win, should win, I voted for: Son of Saul

This conversation about Oscars & Leo took me back to my preteens. I think I was about 7 when I used to swoon for Leo in Growing Pains. Do you all remember this? (Wait for the last photo in the video).

I've never found him remotely attractive at any age especially not first with the twinky teenage girl body he had nor now with the doughy chubby dad body he has.
