At this time I am interested in returning to Santo Domingo, DR but am at a loss as to where to stay. When I was there some 11 years ago, the group stayed in the Colonial Zona at the Hotel Caribe. It had an open door policy as long as your guest left his identification at the desk. To date I know of the Hotel D... and Adams Suite. In reading reviews at www.TripAdvisor.com about the latter facility and viewing pics, I am having second and third thoughts about booking there. Do any of you fellow travelers have other options regarding lodging in Santo Domingo, preferable the Colonial ZONA where we can receive locals easily?

I prefer Punta Cana when in DR; however, I do like spending 1 or 2 nights in Sto. Domingo to get my gay fix in Zona Colonial. I put up with average hotels for this purpose . Are you looking for luxe LGBT friendly accommodations? That's hard is St D. A gay-friendly hotel is duque de Wellington. Escorts tend to hang out in the lobby. A slightly nicer option is the Mercure, part of the French chain. Neither are top notch, but if boys & ease of access is what you want, you will have a better chance there. you may want to call ahead for policies on receiving guests, these tend to change depending on events happening in the city or changes in hotel management/staff. Hope this helps & please report back - would love to find better options! :)

I've stayed at Adam Suites and it's the only gay hotel in Santo Domingo.. it's okay..the only issue is the owner Gilbert, but it's a great place to meet guys and make friends

I've also stayed at Duque De Wellington.....yuck! I was there 4 months ago...no guys in the lobby and the owners couldn't help me find any guys at all..also the hotel is dirty and restaurant horrible!! The staff is very friendly though

My favorite place that's gay friendly and affordable and very nice would be Hotel Boutique Palacio. It's amazing and I always have guys in there with no problems, they just let the hotel make a copy of their ID and they don't charge you for guests...best hotel and best gay friendly hotel in SD in my opinion

My 2nd favorite would be Billini Hotel. Same as Palacio, except a little more money. But another great gay friendly hotel...

Everywhere else is a dump and IMO SD is NOT the place where you want to stay at a dump because you can look on tripadvisor and see many of these dumps with bed bugs and also guests being robbed also the cheaper hotels lose electricity fairly often... So do research and don't always choose the cheapest option, because it's not worth it.

Website at Billini Hotel certainly looks good.

BTW, how do you safely meet guys in Santo Domingo?

Theres a place call Juan Bin Bin in Zona Colonial it's like a brothel, but they also do house call

Also most of the gay clubs (across the street from Adam Suites) has rent boys outside....but I think most of the guys are safe as long as you are staying at a respectable hotewl who will take their id....The guys wont act up, because the hotel will report them to the police(but also remember to NEVER tell the guys when you are leaving. Weird law in DR where you have to be around the entire investigation and it takes week, so I've heard of Dominican guys targeting people who admit to leaving soon, because they know the person won't stay the duration of the investigation)

But DR is a VERY poor country and almost any guy will have sex for money, especially the straight guys.

If you dont want to pay for sex, you can still easily get guys at Apolo Spa...it's a legit gay spa with hot guys who arent rent boys

Thanks, very much men! Your posts definitely are a great help. :):)

Keep the information coming for others and me, por favor! What's been printed thus far has been mighty helpful as well as encouraging.

Have looked into flights, very reasonable from Miami to the DR via American; ...have read about all of the venues mentioned as well as suggested or not at http://www.TripAdvisor.com and http://www.Booking.com. Those reviews have been mighty, mighty helpful, too! Am excited although my planned trip will possibly not transpire until November or December! By the time of its arrival, it's hoped that all will go exceedingly well once I partake of this journey.

This will be my second time there; I expect a completely different experience, for the first time was 11 years ago. I was with a group of about thirty gay men for little over a week. One evening a small group of us guys was on our way to a very popular gay club. I had my mind on meeting a certain someone, so as we walked, I walked and walked with my mind on him. Suddenly, I found myself between the curb and street and in the middle of a huge drainage hole. Unfortunately, I fell. Two fellows pulled me out and hailed a taxi for me. ...went back to the hotel in lots of pain and remained there until the next day. ...saw a gorgeous doctor who advised me to seek additional medical attention when I returned homeward. Well, to make a long story short, my fun and activities were curtailed during the the remaining days. After arriving back in California, this fall led to my having to have surgery which impeded my doing anything for six weeks, which included my not being able to drive. ...friggin' bummer indeed.

Right now I am smiling because on the day of our departure, I went to a shop on the El Conde to purchase some Cuban cigars and a unique, wooden turtle. After I paid, etc. the man helping me was slightly perplexed, for he thought I was a local and wondered why I wasn't speaking Spanish. On my way into the The Hotel Caribe (which had an acceptable policy for guests some 11 years ago) a cutie sat outside and asked me if I wanted "sexo," "sexo." I responded, "No gracias" and smiled. Even if I'd wanted to have gotten together with him, it would not have been 100% fun, for I had torn a ligament in my knee. Today that long, ugly, vertical scar is proof as well as a constant reminder of the accident which should NOT have occurred if I had been paying attention as to where I walked as well as my not having a particular young hottie on my mind. [Do be careful while walking.]

I just booked 5 nights at Adam suites, the balcony room ... Any info about the place or its guest policy?

Girl lol

It's a small little boutique hotel. Try to get along with Gilbert the owner because he runs the place and is generally very involved. It's a safe place. Balcony is a mess! Hot guys you can see but the balcony is right across the street from the 2 gay clubs so don't plan on sleeping Thursday-Sunday. Also make sure you close the balcony door all the way because many mosquitoes get in and with Zika I wouldn't take the chance.

But like I said it's a cute boutique, and it's a great place to make friends with other gays.

As far as guest policy, Gilber charges per guest... Usually you get the bill at the end of your stay.. Also he usually has to know the guy before you bring him in. He has a list of guys not allowed in for a variety of reasons. Like I said Gilbert is VERY involved.

There are some mixed reviews of Adam Suites on http://www/TripAdvisor.com. a few that I ... read from two or three that the owner is one hell of a...., and from what I've read, he has certain guests to whom he gives lots of attention and the others are just there.

When I read the reviews a month or so ago, I personally emailed one of the reviewers who'd written a negative take on Adams Suites in which he had principally focused on Gilbert. His negative review and a few others have persuaded me NOT to stay there when I manage to get back to Santo Domingo!

I arrive Thursday staying in hotel discovery on the El Conde. 9 days....anyone else in town want to compare notes or boys

John, it would be most appreciated if you were to write as fully and as candidly as possible about your time in Santo Domingo to give those of us who desire to travel there in 2016/2017 an additional take. It would be quite helpful to me for sure! Have a great trip! - Axiom -

deylayed flight from London (of course) but connection was deyled so made it to SD by 8pm, 2 of my boys (21 &22) picked me up. they took me to the hotel I booked, but complaining they had arranged a nice apartment for me, and that way all their researched boys could visit. (only over 18) but not be harassed by hotel staff and have to pay to enter (US6 each time) well I agreed to look at the apartment the following day (Friday)

yes very close, just 1 block, its directly behind the casino hotel. have you been there before?

day 2 evening....went as planned, cute Haitian, you know how we like them, he got ticks in all departments., sure you don't need to know what we did, you have all done it before. off to bed very happy.

day 3.........................off to playa guiddia.........church service going on, but that did not stop one lad from cruising me...and he was part of the church......made sure he knew I was off to the toilets, stayed about 1 minute at the urinal, he came in stood next to me and took out, then stroked a monster.....he gave a little follow me look...so what is a man to do.....I followed for about 2 minutes, he led me to a under construction building across the road... where as soon as we were out of sight, put his hands hard down on my shoulders for a forced suck on my knees.......he didn't last to long, (repressed maybe) took a load down my throat, he zipped up and left................back to the playa, my friends had been looking for me.....took a walk I told them.............evening time....back to the apartment, dinner, chat, relax................evening time....went on el conde....quite a few but no one took my fancy until I was about to leave....saw this well dressed (hood style) bugerrone....very sexy looking in every way....but he ignored me...even though I tried to let him know I was interested....so went home to beat off.....

day 4....lazy day....too hot also, back in apartment by 11am...... and stayed until 3pm.........went to a local beach to read....DR cruising guide says its good cruising later afternoon until early evening..........well marks out of 10....hummmm 4 , only just.....there were a few gay guys about but no gettable hotties....the guy taking care of the deck chairs was the best....very dark skinned about 23....in shape....he spent most of the time sleeping and occasionally groping himself....I tried to get his attention....nothing doing......walked further up the malecon towards the malecon hotel and convention Centre.....a few Haitians living rough by the rocks, a few guys hanging about....but I didn't get a good vibe on safety so kept moving. finally time to head back.....checked the beach 1 more time....more people but no obvious action....soon as I left a shoe shine boy 24 yrs. old he said, looked about that...said his name was Raual...decent looking, in shape, but to talkative, spoke English very well...........we was getting along fine until some friend of his cock blocked the convo...it was moving along towards sex talk.....so I left.....5 minutes later, I bumped into francois, from last time.....he straight away said lets go to the cabana......but when we discussed price he was asking way to much 4,500 pesos....even on the el conde they only charge 2,500 these days....he wouldn't budge, so I left him.....now back at the apartment, just had dinner, going to watch a movie and stay in tonight...Mondays the conde is always quiet......lets see what happens tomorrow.............
