I've emailed a couple of people advertising on Backpage, and have often gotten rather vague and sketchy replies that set off warning bells. I just wrote someone advertising who wrote back, sent a body pic, seemed together and not at all sketchy. A huge plus is that he's only 1/2 block from my office. The only thing that concerns me is that his rates seem a little too low to be real - $120 an hour. I was curious about experiences others may have had hiring through Backpage (good or bad), and some thoughts on the rate quoted.

I think you are right to be cautious hiring off of BP. But that said I've met some great escorts through BP and craigslist.

 

It's a tough call. The guy might be great and may never advertise on a site like Rentmen. He might be a total loser though.

 

I think I'd insist on a face pic before meeting and run it through Google image search. His phone number didn't turn up anything when I searched it.

 

Pickings are slim in Albany so I hope he turns out to be legit.

I've had some good experiences hiring off backpage. The rates do tend to be lower, though not quite as low as he quoted you. The only real guidance I have is trust your intuition -- if you get a good feeling about him, go for it.

 

I do try to have a word or two on the phone with the guy in setting it up, as that can give you so much more of a feeling for someone than just email or text.

that close to your office, you should be able to set up something easily that would give you some comfort as to he being real. Just make sure you are in an area where you can just walk away if he isn't what you thought.

I recently met two men off Backpage who were everything I could hope for, almost. They provided great, accurate pics of face and body. They're two decent-looking masculine black men, well built and hung, and seem to be gay for pay and/or on the DL. With a little digging I've determined that one is married with kids and the other has kids with two different women. The two guys seem to lifelong buddies and maybe cousins. They wanted $150 for a three way, with no time limit. After I met them I talked to a guy who had played with them and said that they put on an amazing scene. He said that he was afraid they were going to rob him but they were very cool and professional. The deal-breaker for me was that over the phone they said they played safe and had condoms, but when I met them they tried to talk me into bareback. They had no condoms and said they always fuck raw with white men. They were actually kind of funny about it - one guy was joking that he lost the coin toss and that he'd have to have sloppy seconds. They were real cool about it and friendly when I left, and I gave them a few bucks for their troubles even though it clearly was deception and not a misunderstanding.

 

In general I find that the guys on Backpage that play games when they communicate are disappointing, dangerous, or both. Their fake pics are easy to trace, and often their phone numbers trace back to inconsistent ads. The guys that are for real are often not very cautious, they set things up quickly, and often agree to provide verifiable pics. These guys also often aren't part of the rentboy/rentmen scene and usually have pretty low rates.

A rate is NO indication of the quality of service you will receive. I have two amazing escorts who charge me (significantly) under $500 for overnights. I have one amazing escort that charges me $1000 for an overnight. I see the two a whole lot more than I see the one. I would love to spend significant time with all three of them.

Yep. I have my eye on a BP prospect. My communications with him will determine whether we proceed. The placement of his advertising is irrelevant. And his client-friendly pricing structure catches my eye too. I love to browse the after-holiday bargain bins.

I found one decent guy off Backpage but, so far, I have found that almost anyone on backpage who is even remotely good looking or attractive is using fake pics. Including just about every one who is currently advertising on Backpage New York. Except for Fernando who I met at least a decade ago and is advertising there with the same pics he used at least 7 or 8 years ago. Maybe he still looks like that but he should get some new ones.

I have zip for intuition in situations like this. I know I can walk away from pretty much anything that doesn't feel right, but my greatest fear is being caught up in some kind of a sting. That would pretty much destroy me. They've been busting straight escorts and clients up here recently and I'm nervous that they decided to branch out.

He emailed me one. Looks legit. He's run a couple of other ads recently, but his age & weight slightly fluctuate. (by 1 year and 10 lbs). Not sure if that's something to be concerned with.

I have had good experiences hiring out of Jack In The Box. It's simply the quality index is a lot lower. Way fewer duds cruising RM.

 

Now mind you I'm still in the blissful glow of my Valentine Days cutie. He wants to get together for lessons; Haven't the slightest idea of what to charge. I'm thinking: "Clean the bathroom?"
