Another dog story BUT on a very positive note

Thanks for the post. Its about freaking time this happened. Congress still gets a zero approval rating for taking so long on a solution that should have become law a long time ago. Billions wasted in the military budget but the military and Congress couldn't do the right thing by these dogs and their handlers for too many decades. The cost to simply transport the animals home is huge so the new legislation takes a big burden off of handlers that want to bring their military dogs home.

 

Its easy to find many good animal rescue and/or assistance groups. Here's one I like & give to (not for military dogs but cats and dogs rescued by soldiers overseas).

When walking my dog in the park by my house, I occasionally run into a guy, Rich, with a retired military dog, Tommy. Such a great dog. He's 13 and a bit overwhelmed by my 18-month-old rescue's energy, but they play well together. Rich often admonishes Tommy with "if only the marines could see you now", but it's always with a smile.
