Rumors have been running wild about a major actor announcing his HIV status.

Charlie Sheen is expected to announce to Matt Laurer on the Today Show tomorrow morning his diagnosis.

Those in LA said that Sheen was diagnosed well over a year ago and has already settled a number of lawsuits by those exposed to the virus by Sheen.

Wow! And so many folks think HIV is something of the past...

I'm one of the people that thru research, aliveandwell.org I question some of the current beliefs of HIV in our current world. I also understand the pharmaceutical industry is a billion dollar one.

Once in awhile, I'll ask someone who feels a certain way about people with HIV, have you ever known anyone to have died or become hospitalized because of HIV? Now, I'm not talking about gay men in their 40s, 50s and 60s who can recount people dying in the 80s. I'm talking about guys my age, in their 20s and 30s. The answer has always been no, never been yes.

I usually hear gay men dying from drug overdose, suicide, and alcohol induced car wrecks. But never HIV. So because of that, my belief system is different. I don't ask anyone to adopt it, it's their choice what they choose to put in their bodies.

I do however believe in hepatitis, and the host of other STDs out there...so my belief isn't necessarily a promo for unsafe sex.

I think the only good thing about this is that for those who still think that HIV is "a gay disease" by Charlie disclosing the truth will put a whole new spin on who can become HIV positive (which is anybody really) and that this can and does affect everyone, not just a section of people.

Well - The day finally came where he disclosed it, but something tells me there is more to this where he could have been "forced" to disclose this news if he has affected someone else or been extorted in some way or something as I been hearing of him being positive for over 3 years now, and all of a sudden he's gonna disclose it to the public.

I have heard so many stories where he's been with both male and female, and even transsexual escorts "partying" on hard drugs for quite sometime now, and from what I understand some of the escorts in the business he has been with "under the influence" were positive having unprotected sex with them knowing they were positive.

He was doing hard drugs, and was out of it most of the time from what I heard when he was being penetrated. If your that twacked out on heavy party drugs - your not gonna think of using protection. Not in the slightest.

So this isn't a surprise, but my only concern out of all of this is - Why? I mean - why is he disclosing this so late, but making it look like(to those who don't know him and his wild behavior)he just found out?

Like I said - something is up as I think he's been set up possibly, and had to tell it before it got linked out or him being sued. I could be wrong, but most people don't disclose this to the public after knowing for some years they're positive. There are a lot of HIV positive celebrities out there who are NOT disclosing to the public of they're status as they know it could ruin they're career, and like in many cases create bad publicity to where they're career may never be the same.

I think Rock Hudson was a VERY good example of a famous celebrity who has AIDS(not HIV), and swept it under the rug for quite a long time, but what gave it away was him getting sick, and his symptoms exposing his secret as down the line by him getting sicker and sicker.

Pretty simple (and he fessed to as much in a recent NBC interview): he was paying off a lot of money to blackmailers who threatened to "out" him with this information. By laying it out in the open, he can stop paying his blackmailers. If he's smart, he can even sue his blackmailers for the extortion.

Thanks for the info, Unicorn as it was what I thought it was as I didn't see the interview at all, but came to that conclusion.

Just like what I suspected and thought as I'm sure his friends (including escorts) know why he came out. Charlie Sheen was known in escorting community quite well as a "VIP" celebrity who hired escorts left and right. Have one friend who's been hired by him several times, and he knew of his wild adventures with sex and drugs.

Even though he attempted to claim to be mostly straight - I think he's more of a Gay man who enjoys dick, and not Bi or Straight as his main preference was mostly men or transsexuals he hired.

Wow. Didn't know that about him. Of coarse I was just going by the hollywood PR machine of him always surrounded by beautiful women.

Of course the public has had such an example since 1991 when Magic Johnson disclosed he contracted HIV from unprotected sex with "hundreds" of female prostitutes.

Prejudice dies hard.

How remarkably indiscreet of both of you! Just because you're privy to information doesn't mean that is your information to repeat.

Example, my sister recently told me she sat next to a certain celebrity on an airplane. While I don't know the celebrity personally, the celebrity is part of a business venture that is a client of mine. Professional discretion dictates that I not reveal either relationship to my sister and I didn't.

No, he probably can't. I'm guessing his "blackmailers" all had lawyers and the payments were made through them in lieu of lawsuits. In that case, it's legal. It's like what Jesse Jackson/Al Sharpton do with companies. Legal blackmail. Good to keep in mind when you're going to blackmail someone. Going through a lawyer: legal. Doing it yourself: illegal.

It does beg the question, considering how everyone knew how messed up Charlie Sheen was for years, why would he care if it was disclosed? Did he think his reputation could get any lower? My guess is it would have interferred with his party lifestyle and his exposing people to his disease through unprotected sex and he said forget about it.

The saddest thing in this story is to see prominent gay men start talking about Charlie Sheen as a "role model" yesterday. That depressed me beyond words. He ain't role model for anyone.

Not a role model but I hope people in general can learn from his mistakes.

I hate to sound like a cynic or perceived as unfeeling (finding out you're HIV+, even today is no picnic and I wouldn't wish a poz diagnosis to anyone), BUT there's a part of me that feels this is shameless self promotion. Sheen's career is in the toilet because of his Two and a Half Men craziness and a failed series on FX. Also, to bring his doctor on (a known celebrity doctor) and to say he had unprotected sex with 2 woman under his doctor's care? What? PREP or not being available....what??? Call me crazy, but I think there's more to this story, blackmail or not, that's under the surface.

he didn't name a name. how is confirming he slept with a hooker- something sheen did himself- an issue?

Let's face it, this forum is for escorts and clients. Mr. Sheen is a public figure who has admitted to hiring multiple escorts. The fact that he also hired male escorts is not a well kept secret. No specific escorts were named so I fail to see how sharing these facts about a public figure was indiscreet. JMHO

Exactly lol. DUH lol. The right of Indiscretion is out the window at this point for Charlie Sheen. He's been discussed on the show The Talk for the last 2 days, with today showing his contracts he made escorts sign about confidentiality and how they'd be fined $100,000 for breaking it. Plus, the preOp transsexuals.

I think the whole thing is trite. It goes right back to what I was saying about prostitutes getting such a bad rep this year. Everytime you look around, there's a scandal involved. At the same time, I think the bright side is its creating more awareness that it's not the stereotypical, grotesque figure who'd want to hire an escort.

To me it's just not a big deal nor surprise. This stuff goes on everyday in your local gay neighborhood. People are barebacking left and right, tweaking out, and not saying a goddamn thing about anything. The ones who do come out and tell me they're POZ, I'm like ummm...I don't care. I'm not fucking you bareback, you're not looking for anything serious, why are you telling me for? Why?
