if you don't already have the website:

an offer to join their mailing list pops up (for me) after a few seconds...or you can click on a link at lower right....

as garp says, I think Matt Adonis, the operator, has an agreement with Fubar to use the facility a couple nights a week....as far as lap dances, when I was there more than a year ago, an area had been curtained off and there were a few chairs in there and maybe a sofa-like thing, too....no private booths....occasionally, Matt has a private invite-only (join the mailing list) all-nude party somewhere in the West LA-ish area, but this evidently requires a lot of planning on his part and isn't monthly as in NYC.....

I find myself in LA with my Sunday night free. I read that the doors to Fubar open at 8:30. How long does it take for the action to start?

Unfortunately true of most places. I know Gold Coast in Detroit opens up at 7:00, but get there at 8:00 and it's just you & the bartender chatting. Dancers generally start around 9:30.

I always found that funny about the movie "Trick" - at the beginning of the movie, the lead drops into a bar around lunchtime and it's filled with dancers on the bar. Was there ever a place where this was true?

I made it there at 8:36 pm and was told they don't open for another half hour. There wasn't anyplace nearby I wanted to hang out, so I just went back to my hotel. The web site's line-up for the evening looked enticing so I'm sorry I missed it. Next time I'm in LA, I'll have to arrange my time better so I'm prepared for a late night start. Can one get by with just tipping the dancers a lot of $1 bills, or are $20 lap dances de rigueur?

I would be prepped with a stack of twenties for lap dances...singles won't get you more than a thank you and a smile as they walk away.

Generally if a dancer spends some time with me at the bar, I tip a couple of bucks, or a 5, or a 10, depending on how "friendly" he is. If he is just trying to drum up business for a lapdance and I am not interested, it is a single or nothing depending on his attitude.

Used to live in LA and Adonis was pretty fun. When I come to visit LA, I try to visit Adonis. Unfortunately, the bar is now really well lit, and the back curtain is half open. There is a "hall monitor" at the back who watches the curtained off area who can be really rude at times. I heard they had some trouble with dancers being too "open" and patrons being too "forward". The fun isn't what it used to be but for some reason I still keep coming back when I'm in LA haha. It's a good format you won't find anywhere else in LA, its just unfortunate some people have to ruin it for the rest.

I was there this past weekend and although the guys were hot, the whole concept of Adonis (I have visited the NYC Adonis too) pales in comparison to what you get in Montreal. Adonis dancers don't get naked/hard on stage; the "back room" is essentially a long couch where you get a lapdance whilst another customer is sitting beside you also getting a lapdance from another dancer = no privacy; the whole bar is dimly lit so you can barely see anything; overpriced cover + drinks.

Yes traxton I was out in LA last October, and while the dancers were hot I agree with you with the lap dance situation, plus like Adonis in NYC, the dancers are sooooooooooo

aggressive, why? To many dancers not enough customers!!! I was at Adonis in Manhattan a few weeks back with more dancers then customers, and the lap dance situation

is terrible many of the dancers were taking numbers from whatever customers were there to see them outside the club. The best scam is when Tim Adonis hosts his

once a month NUDE event party in Manhattan. He charges you $50 dollars to enter the club to see naked dancers that you can only get a lap dance from, no stage show

like Montreal, I can do without the liquor no biggie for me, but what he doesn't tell you is that you can see most of these dancers the following nights at Evolve, Fairytale

for $10 dollars, and some are in town the night before where you can see them at Spunk Thursday nights @ The Monster. Packing my bags for Montreal !!!!

Spunk has the best lapdance setup...pvt curtained cubicles. I also like the bar better and there is a stage show with real pole dancing.

Going to Adonis Lounge for the first time ever this week on Wed and next Sunday. I know private dances are $20 but was wondering if people tip on top of that and how much people tip. Was also wondering if anyone had any experience with Ricardo there. I have seen him at other bars in We Ho and know he also dances at Adonis and was hoping he was open to extra curricular activities.....

Ricardo is pretty awesome, I would say he is one of the more friendly personable dancers.

Dances at the club are not private per se, lapdance room is in the back with U shaped futon sectional, you grab an empty space on that U and get your lapdance. Hard not to glance around but you want to stay focused on your guy cuz one song and $20 goes fast. You want to put down a few songs at least just to get to know your guy and have somewhat of a conversation. Just go with few hang ups it really can be fun :)

I think I'm too cheap, based on that description. Or, thats not an acceptable value proposition for me.

I have no hesitation at $300/hour.

I used to sit in SF NobHill Theatre stuffing bill after bill in performers' socks... and sitting in adjacent theater seating, so the privacy is no concern. Arranged privates too.

God knows I throw away more than that, at a faster rate, in a casino, with what's probably less satisfaction.

But the idea of paying $20 for lapdance that might last 150 to 270 seconds... I dont think thats for me.

Too bad... Im going to be in LA once or twice this summer, and Adonis was on my to-do list.

My experience has been, because the music is virtually continuous, it's extremely difficult for me to distinguish when one song ends and another begins. (And I bet it is for the dancers, too.) But because that awful club music seems to drag on endlessly, one song usually provides a nice decent length of time - perhaps up to 10 minutes. I always do multiple songs (I think) and the good guys always seem grateful and unquestioning. I think only once did I have a dancer add up a total in his head and quote me a price after it was over. That was the first and last time I favored him with my lap.

I know the NYC events, the one run by his brother, the dancers there are always really good about telling you when one song is over and asking if you want another. I wonder if the LA ones do the same?

take responsibility for your own actions!.....

when you engage a guy for a lapdance, politely tell him how many songs you're thinking of doing and that you'd like to do more if things are going well ;), ask him to periodically let you know how many songs have gone by (ask him if he "forgets" to tell you), and stay in control.....

there will always be dudes who try to run up the count, but these are things you can do to minimize that risk......yeah, it ain't romantic or sexy, but when I see posters complain about a dancer who couldn't count, I have to wonder who is really in control........he said/he said disputes and complaints to management certainly seem like killjoy when it's all supposed to be fun.......if you don't tell your dancer how many songs you'd like and if you don't check in with him periodically about how we're doing, there is only one person to blame

another option is to ask the dancer if he'll do a fixed time for a fixed rate ($50/10 mins or $75/15 mins???)......some won't do this and it may lessen their incentive to do a hot show, but you won't have to worry about that pesky song count
