Colorado High School Sexting Scandal Costs Football Team Its Playoff Spot

City High School is just like most other high schools in the country, in that it’s full of libidinous teenagers and has a football team. Unfortunately for fans of the Cañon City Tigers, those two factors intersected and ultimately cost the football team its shot at a playoff spot, as a wave of suspensions in the wake of a massive sexting scandal forced the football team to forfeit its crucial rivalry game against Discovery Canyon. This loss most likely knocked the team out of playoff contention.

Snoozy little Cañon City is growing up. (My grandparents lived there in retirement.)

Previously, the only thing it was known for was the Royal Gorge and being home to the state pen.

Growing up not too far away from Canon City as the crow flies, trust me the kids there were never snoozy.

I'm a few decades older than these kids but I felt my first female boobs and had my first drink of Peppermint Schnapps in Canon City in the 80's.

Oh what a night!

I think its interesting that half the football team was taking naked pics of themselves and sending it around to the rest of the football team.. and perhaps others? I don't know many straight football players who want pics of other straight naked football players.. :p

When will we get to see some of the pics?

Unfortunately their pics with or without their faces are out there in the internet, I hope they won't ruin their lives. The first rule of sexting is not to show your face when you send pics of your junk or anything else they ask you.

When I google searching for pics to post in the gallery I'm shocked to see so many pics of amateur guys naked.

Even in grindr many of them they'll just show you everything.

Never. I'm assuming the majority of those involved are all minors.

remember this previous thread? The kid sent a picture of his cock but not his face and the cops wanted to get him hard to see if it matched the pic the girl received.

In their battle against child pornography, Virginia police want to force a 17-year old boy to get an erection. They say they need it as proof that he did, in fact, send a photo of his penis to a 15 -year old girl, who also sent him photos of herself.

This hardly seems to be the proper way to discourage teens from sexting. Aside from the titillating aspect of it, it sets a bad example. The police want to inject the youth with a drug that would make him erect, then photograph it. So far, lawyers have been able to stop the police effort.

The boy's sexting has left him faced with two felony charges, which could lead to his incarceration until the age of 21 and registration for life as a sex offender. The Washington Post reports: ...the case began when the teen’s 15-year-old girlfriend sent photos of herself to the 17-year-old, who in turn sent her the video in question. The girl has not been charged, and her mother filed a complaint about the boy’s video, ..." Police have already taken photos of the boy's genitals against his will, the story goes on to say, but now want a photo of him aroused.

The Post article concludes: "Carlos Flores Laboy, appointed the teen’s guardian ad litem in the case, said he thought it was just as illegal for the Manassas City police to create their own child pornography as to investigate the teen for it. “They’re using a statute that was designed to protect children from being exploited in a sexual manner,” Flores Laboy said, “to take a picture of this young man in a sexually explicit manner. The irony is incredible.” The guardian added, “As a parent myself, I was floored. It’s child abuse. We’re wasting thousands of dollars and resources and man hours on a sexting case. That’s what we’re doing.”

Foster said Detective Abbott told her that after obtaining photos of the teen’s erect penis he would “use special software to compare pictures of this penis to this penis. Who does this? It’s just crazy.”

exactly, it they were over 18 cops would be involved in this investigation, my point is that unfortunately their pics after they sent them are out there and pretty soon someone will post them in one of those sites outside the U.S. where there's no need to prove ownership of the pics or ID.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the pics are used by one of the usual scammers on Back Page or craigslist.

A catfish could use some of the face pics too.

I also wonder if underage drinking was involved in this kind of behavior even though sexting also happens among people who are sober yet tempted to risk their future in a lapses of judgement.

One more thing, I hope NOT to see their pics online but I'm afraid sooner or later they'll be there.

"The district said it received anonymous tips about the alleged sexting on Monday and that it has turned the investigation over to the Cañon City Police Department. Police are looking at whether adults were involved, or if any of the photos were coerced, according to the district.

District officials are warning parents that students apparently used apps to hide the photos on their phones"

Maybe things have changed a lot since I was in high school. Don't the male student still shower together after football practice and football games as well gym class? It's not the same as a photo, but still.......

I played collegiate sports, and at that level there were definitely naked photos taken by straight guys of each other in the gang showers and locker rooms. Straight guys would engage in all sorts of homoerotic banter in the showers that never led to anything else. Playful hazing was prevalent, but there was a collective understanding that we had each other's backs, and no one would let things fall into the wrong hands. However, high school sports were more conservative with less nudity where I grew up.
