I just read that Janet Jackson was bleeped by CBS censors while on David Letterman last night -- for saying, "Oh, Jesus" after Dave said it looked like the breast-baring had been intentional. I don't even know what to say about that. Isn't CBS the station that brought us All in the Family over 30 years ago...the show where Archie would regularly exclaim, "Oh, Jeez!"? What is going on at CBS and in this country? It was OK in 1971 but it's obscene in 2004? Oh, Jeez. :o

I watched the episode last night on Letterman. I must say that the whole thing was rather painful to see. Letterman was trying to have some fun with Janet, but she just kept refusing to talk about the incident. I am not even sure why she agreed to come on the show if she wasn't comfortable enough to discuss it. And, of course, she didn't want to talk about her brother's problems, either. It wasn't much of a "talk show".

>And who the hell is Damita Jo anyway?

It's her middle name (apparently, she's changed it from "Privacy," which was her middle name in the song "Nasty"). You can always turn to me for expert head and useless trivia. :p

As I have a number of times in the past. How quickly we forget (if you consider 3 1/2 years quickly).

Jesus that is sad! All because of a breast! It seems as though the FCC and the censors are catering to the minority. It is so pitiful right now, when Oh Jesus gets bleeped.

And let me state for the record (the M4M record I suppose, sorry a bit over the top there!!) That I love Howard Stern and I love listening to his sick and wacked show in the morning. it makes me laugh! And KC is HOT! There I said it!!

RE: Britney is a dirty word now??!!

That Britney Spears special on tv last night "Live from Miami" was just pornographic. She dressed so scantily with all of these guys in super tight bulging underwear humping her. What has tv come to?

Sounds like it's come to my apartment. }(

Well it seems like Britney--unlike Ms Jackson for whom Privacy was her middle name and last name was Control--- seems like Britney's middle name is Exhibitionism and her last name is Nasty. Blu

I once dated a guy from Poland. He would mourn "Jesus" whenever I made him cum.

LOL That actually freaked me out a little. I was so used to hearing "Oh God" :-)

Saying "Jesus" instead of "oh God", is that a european thing?

From my own personal observations, Jesus is a dirty word ONLY on this site, unless I'm moaning "JESUS, FUCK ME"! Or Jesus F. Christ "what a hot little boy!" x(

RE: Damita Jo

It was also the name of a Country and Western singer many moons ago. I know an Empress of Houston who was named after her. And my fourth husband left me one of her records, which, if memory serves, was also named "Damita Jo." ;)

"Jesus" or "God" is taken out if it is determined that it was being used in vain, or in a way that may not be taken as praiseworthy.

My understanding is that is the rule of thumb for network television (not cable), and they try to err on the side of caution. I'm just religious enough that I appreciate the consideration. I also am practical enough to appreciate that bleeping it means that the religious right won't be knocking on their door anymore than they already are...

Yes Vince, we are WAY too sensitive. I can't believe some of the things I can't say at work because I may offend someone.

Jesus became a dirty word when the "christian" began using the Bible to justify all the evil that they do.

I have no problem with this thread being moved to the political forum, btw.
