I have read posts in the past about this topic but they seem to wonder way off course and no one really stays focused. So I decided to give it another try.

Assuing I have no sores in my mouth what is my risk of contracting a disease by giving someone head. I like for guys to cum in my mouth but I don't swallow yet I know that I'm still swallowing some of his cum.

In various medical reports they all seem to feel the risj is low, especially when it comes to HIV.

Anyone have any knowledge about the health risk of sucking cock?

I think that the risk is generally considered to be roughly the same as having anal sex with a condom (i.e. taking into account the fact that the condom might break). Even in the worst-case scenario, the risk of transmission is quite low if the HIV-infected sexual partner is successfully being treated for HIV. The highest risk is either when the HIV-infected person is newly-infected or towards the later stages of the disease. Of course, when you're having sex with an escort, you really have to assume the worst.

This has been discussed often here.

There is one rule: there is risk.

If not for HIV, then for Syphilis or some other STD.

There is risk. The only absolutely certain way to completely avoid the risk is to abstain.

Beyond that, there is risk. It's up to you to decide how much risk you are personally comfortable with.

Oral sex (and even oral cumshots) is *relatively* safe for HIV, but it's not absolutely safe and with Syphilis infections at an all-time high right now I'd put it in the risky range.

There is risk. That is the rule. You decide whether you're feeling Lucky today.

Can we say Oral Gonorrhea? ;) Mix in some Syphilis.

Lets throw in Herpes and Hepatitis B virus for good measure. :9

To catch HIV via oral sex is very rare according to all of the reports I've read. it can happen along with other STDs but HIV itself is rare.

I've investigated this, and I'd agree that the risk of HIV through oral sex (even swallowing semen) as long as your mouth is healthy and his cock appears to be is roughly the same as anal sex WITH a condom. There are hardly any cases of transmission through oral sex, but they do exist (or are thought to - could be other factors I suppose). I think it comes down to assessing your risk and making a decision based on that assessment, like anything else? (What are the chances I'll get into a car accident if I drive? What are the chances I'll get cancer if I smoke? etc.)

I also agree that there are other viruses out there to worry about. Most are treatable fortunately, but there are still some really bad ones like syphilis as mentioned.

If you want my personal take, for me it depends on the guy. There are some escorts I've met I really feel I can trust and would do this with, and there are others where I'd feel the need to be more cautious (same people I probably wouldn't choose to spend time with again). It's not a foolproof system by any means, and I hope I don't regret it someday, but at the moment that's where I'm at. (I also test regularly and try to ask the status of everyone I'm with and if they get tested as well - again, not foolproof, but it does help.)

IMO asking the status of a new partner, escort or a date, is useless. Until you get to know someone very well, you can't believe anything a person says. Unfortunately, a lot of people lie. Second, a person may think he is not infected but may actually be infected. For example, you can test negative for HIV one day, but then contract HIV the next day. So if a person says he just tested negative, it means nothing. You really have to assume that everyone is HIV+ and take precautions. As for other STDs, while most are still easily treatable, there are more and more strains developing that are highly resistant to antibiotics. So nobody should assume treating an STD is no big deal and has an easy fix.

Also clients probably put escorts at higher risk for contracting STDs since clients get upset if escorts want to use a condom to perform oral sex.

My previous reply was not singling out escorts when it comes to not telling the truth. I'm sorry if I did not adequately communicate this. I did refer to a date. This client does not get upset if an escort wants to use a condom for oral sex, and I'm sure there are other clients like me. In fact, I prefer to use a condom for oral sex, especially if I don't know someone. My point was that anyone - escort, client, or just a date can lie about anything. So the only sane way to have sex is to assume the worst and take whatever precautions make you comfortable. Better than worrying afterwards about whether you should have used a condom or done this or that.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to single you out. I was just looking for an opportunity to voice my opinion about safe oral safe and escort/client relations.

Thanks for your input.

As some other posters here have noted, the risk of HIV contagion through oral sex is vanishingly low. You're likelier to be struck by lightning!

The chances of catching other STDs orally is higher. Fortunately, most of them are fairly easily treatable (although, as noted, there are now some nasty strains of resistant gonorrhea going around). Probably the scariest of the diseases you can get orally is syphilis, because you may never notice any symptom of exposure at all. Untreated syphilis can become a very serious (or even fatal) health problem. Fortunately, syphilis does still respond to common antibiotics.

If you're sexually active, be responsible and get yourself tested periodically (like every six months), just like most of did in the 70s and 80s before we knew about AIDS. If the results are positive, get treated. Nobody wants to pick up an STD, but except for HIV they're all treatable and don't have serious consequences if caught and treated promptly. So don't get over-freaked about this. Take care of yourself and have fun!
