Times do change: Vanessa Williams returns to Miss America and receives an apology

In 1983, Vanessa Williams was the first black woman to be crowned Miss America, and about 10 months later she notoriously forfeited the title after Penthouse published nude photos of her that were shot in 1982. (Williams reportedly felt pressured by pageant officials to resign.) She went on to become the most successful Miss America of all time, as a recording artist and actor. Tonight, she’s back on the Miss America stage for the first time in 32 years as a judge.

I remember very well the controversy. Good for the Miss America organization for apologizing.

This are the scandalous pictures that took the crown away from her, America has changed a lot, many would consider them now to be edgy yet artistic. I'm glad she just kept working, showing what a great singer and actress she is and now she finally received an apology.

I was also very happy that they made the effort to apologize to her, well deserved. Social progress and growth out of our Puritan roots, I say. Kim Kardashian is a huge star because of her scandalous past. Vanessa Williams is one in spite of it.
