I'm headed to Palm Springs in October for the Big Men's Weekend and I'll be looking for some entertainment. Of course, our own Stephen Kesslar immediately comes to mind. I've seen him for years and think he's fantastic. Who else can you recommend?

hike up Araby Trail for an up-close look at Bob Hope's (former) house!....that spaceship-looking thing!.....had a good Paleo breakfast at Peabody's before the forum pool party last May.....and there's always the tram up San Jacinto

Thanks! Asthma keeps me from hiking UP trails, but I'll definitely give Peabody's a try. I've done the tram before, but who knows, I may do it again!

 

I once had a close encounter with Bob Hope in Palm Springs! I was sitting in my rented convertible waiting at a red light when a Rolls Royce pulled up in the turn lane next to me. I glance over and Bob Hope is in the passenger seat and Dolores, his wife, is behind the wheel. It was only on my way back to my hotel that I realized that they were turning off on the road up to their house.

Are you interested in art? The Desert Painters Galley just west of the center of town features a fine, rising artist, Terry Masters. He is a California Impressionist, who paints in the plein aire style. He has many beautiful large and small paintings for sale at very reasonable prices. He is usually manning the gallery, so you can also " meet the artist". A large painting I purchased from him 5 years ago for $1200 is now valued at about $4000. I also have bought several 5 x 7 inch paintings from him to add to my collection or give as gifts.

 

A painting might be a more lasting memento of your PS visit, although not as satisfying as a visit to Dane.
