While I agree that there was much about the site that was really fucked up, that is no reason for the State to come in and shut them down. If that happened to every restaurant, gym, clothing store, whatever, that gave me rotten service, there would be many empties on the streets of Manhattan.

Rentboy was unquestionably full of guys whose only existence was based on drama and attitude.... and while I smirk a bit still we as citizens should not use this time to jump on a bandwagon of further smearing them!

First off I am not smearing them.. I simply said exactly what the I MENT... KARMA... when a website like Rentboy who's customers are the ESCORTS .. we pay them.. then they should offer EXCELLENT customer service.... I only place a travel ad on Rentboy very rarely and I just placed one because I was going to Memphis.. and I called in there yesterday because I had a problem with the ad.. the guy who answered the phone was very "snotty" and "rude" .. since my travel ad was only $12 bucks, I just let it go said I would not advertise on Rentboy anymore.. because there other sites. and I get the bulk of my biz from RentMen..

So again .. KARMA KARMA KARMA.. and that's what they get..

I see... so if someone runs their business in a way that you are not satisfied by the government should come in and arrest them? This has some rather scary implications for those of us who might still believe in some more enlightened principles of justice, society, law....

Interesting argument you're making here.

Might want to consider the lives and lifestyles a couple of bakers and their bakeries when they stated their personal convictions about providing wedding cakes to gay couples getting married. They weren't arrested, but their businesses were effectively taken away from them through government fines and vicious local protestors.

Not a close comparison. Did RB refuse to take on customers of any type? There are consequences for illegally discriminating when operating a business serving the public and there should be. Whether civil, administrative, criminal or the public (those oh so vicious demonstrators you whine about), there are consequences for breaking the law. Are you gay or supposedly straight yet lost being here with your sympathies towards those who break anti discrimination laws and are just plain mean to people because they are gay and want to get married? I'm guessing you realize that those same bakers don't think much of you so its weird you'd be enthusiastic to defend them - but maybe its like battered people who stick up for those that abuse them. The recent court decision in Colorado upholding the state agency's ruling against illegal discrimination by a baker is educational - if in fact you are interested in educating yourself. That baker didn't like that he, appropriately, lost again and had already stopped baking wedding cakes for anyone. Its a slippery slope. One baker doesn't want to bake a cake for gay people, next he/she doesn't want to bake something for Baptists, Muslims, Jews, etc. And then he/she posts a sign on the front door of their business which is licensed to serve the public that people of those faiths aren't welcome. Not a popular strategy in this country and people are right to fight that from the start.

False equivalency on multiple levels. The enforcement of anti-discrimination laws is completely different from what happened here. And no matter how "vicious" (in the eyes of some) local protesters might be, that is nowhere near government action, so that comparison is completely off-base.

KARMA KARMA KARMA....

I agree, but I hate the word karma. Karma is an ancient word, that usually doesn't involve greedy government agents. Karma is an energy, not a FORCE. The appropriate karma would be what happened to Grindr and Gay.com...people are moving on because it's no longer King.

BUT....Rentboy did stop bringing in the number of clients they used to. And I kinda felt their "interface" was old school. With so many escorts traveling, we shouldn't need to keep paying for separate ads for city. Rentboy on many times has irritated me, and they just didn't do enough for us. Even the whole paying more to have a higher spot on the ad list is a bit pricey. It's not like other sites which gives more incentives/travel cities, it's just a higher placement.

But, the issue is...escorts have their money tied up in the site, it continues to promote an adversion to the business, and it now takes out a relatively good advertising venue away for us.

But I do feel many escort sites are making a killing off the prices of their ads. But, backpage is free...and the responses are worth just that most of the time.

You are correct.. about RB being old school, & not many clients cam through their site vs their competitors. .. As for money that people place on ads... CHARGE IT TO THE GAME.. . it's a wrap.. Money is lost ... there are other sites to advertise on.. so we all should just move on .. I don't advertise on Backpages , not safe at all.. but to each it's own who uses that outlet.

umm no its not.. IT'S A WRAP on that site..

http://www.seizedserver.com/ this is what you get when you go to RB site.

I'm at the west coast, not sure if it's by area. Still working perfectly fine. I clicked on an a link and it directed me to the ad. Tried Google, no problems getting into the site. I'm actually wondering that it seems "okay" while others still have the same problem. Don't even know why/how it's back up after all that has happened.

Um, no. It's not. They don't just have to invetigate and arrest. They have to proof.

Okay, it's official ... my vote is in.

If we need a post that provides both a logical reason and an emotional context for why there is a legal concept called "hearsay", this is it!

Congratulations, Ricardo. Word in the streets is you is one smart cookie, and I read your reviews. Granted, it's all hearsay, but I still think you are quite the bull!
