Above is a list of the 10 most populous US Cities (based on 2014 Census) and the number of Rentboys servicing each city (on a recent day). As expected NYC and LA lead the way not only in number of escorts, but in "escort density" as well...there is a rentboy for each ~40K people.

 

But why are the Texas cities (and Philly) so low, only one rentboy per 170K people, vs cities like DC and Miami (a rentboy per ~70K).

These numbers bear out what I had casually observed on this forum and on the RB sites. NYC is by far the most well endowed with rentboys. LA has fewer but still a decently thick supply. I'm a little surprised to see Miami over DC. Interesting. For DC, are you including Congress in your counts? That's over 600 people who get paid to screw you over. <rimshot>.

I assume you are basing your analysis on 'Rentboy.com' data. I live in NYC, and I can assure you there are not 485 but THOUSANDS of escorts, if you add up RB, Rentmen, the various other escort websites, the pros on adam4adam (and similar sites) and the backpage listings.

You may be right. In this article from 2013, porn searches in Mississippi lasted the longest by a minute or so. Rhode Islanders were busy doing something else (could it be actual sex?) as their searches were the shortest.

Miami has a more international and tourist residency/population than DC, I believe. In Miami, there's street trade, there's bar trade, there's trade all around...one has to really have a niche to work out of there. And it's not uncommon that a client gets jipped from time to time.

 

In DC, I don't think one can get away with it as much because DC has high security plus...I believe DC is much more educated and Ivy League than Miami. So, there's less people entering the business.

 

That said, this gives me opportunity to discuss Denver. I'm really hating Denver these days. Like its really becoming a pain in my goddamn ass being here. I just came back from an awesome tour, only to return and my first 2 days here...before I could even unpack my bags, the dummies start calling. This place has become full of 20s and 30s something, most who are just lazy ass pot smokers, and then you have the PNP brigade. Not to mention, the conservative and the frugal. So the escort market here is just going to hell in a hand basket. I've already noticed the constant, irregular fluctuations of escort, thinking its worth a damn to come out here

 

I'm taking 1 week to relax, and I'm getting the fuck out of here again. This place causes too much wear and tear on my last nerve. Just a bunch of silly ass people. This place is becoming like another Las Vegas. Except it's not even half the entertainment.

Adam smith is right...as has been explained by me recently, and the chart shows, more repressed people who won't hire in Texas.

 

But, it also says something about who's open and willing to escort and advertise it properly? I think that's the bigger factor. Wyoming is a place where there is consistently never any escorts advertising, but I've come across clients there with patience...despite it being the most gay repressed place in the country.

 

As also been said by me before...the average gay man is either ignorant to, or judgemental against the profession. That increases in certain states more than others.
