You're allowed to like the gowns...and the furnishings. :)

 

Those waistcoats are something, though. All that brocade and embroidery. These days they would cost an arm and a leg and be considered unmanly.

Many of them did exactly that for some of these movies... codpieces were used a lot, and many guys would stuff them for obvious reasons. Many of those clothes were not very comfortable, and costume designers often have to make adjustments for the actors of today when they are in period movies like is shown here. It's fun to see, however, and not all were stuffed !!! :)
