A straight buddy complained to me recently about the price of female companionship. We swapped notes and figured out that (on an hourly basis) he pays three to four times more to women than I do to men. He was shocked and envious. I was shocked and incredulous. Do women really charge so much more than men?

Most of the research on prostitution says women charge more than men. But I doubt the difference is that large. The difference is more like 50-100%

For example, I was out at a club. A guy I was talking to pointed to a girl and said "I hate those hookers." I asked how much they were quoting for an overnight, and he said it was about $2000. (To give an idea of quality, the best looking of the "hookers" were extremely beautiful.) The agency girls would probably charge more than these girls, say $2500 . Their male equivalent, a certain 20something escort who posts on this board, charges $1500.

This makes sense if you think about it. A hot gay guy can walk into a bar or go on Grindr and find a one night stand in minutes. All he needs to do is choose the guy he wants. That's the benefit of having sex with other horny men.

Calling up an escort gets rid of all that risk, plus he knows in advance whether she'll do what he wants.

Rates for female escorts advertising on Eros.com, independent or agency, seem to be most typically $300-400/hour, or a bit more. These are in line with the study by The Economist referenced some time back here, which used a source it didn't identify directly but which I believe was the review site http://theeroticreview.com.

I have always been told by a few of the guys I hire who are also friends with some working ladies that the going prices per hour tend to be close to twice what most male escorts charge. I have no hard reference to quote prices but these guys are trustworthy escorts I have hired more than once, so I don't doubt what they've told me. I haven't enough interest to actually sign up for a site such as The Erotic Review which AdamSmith links to, though.

In fact, I find it almost offensive to see how 'easy' they are. Most of my straight friends in their 20s manage to sleep with several women per week (especially in college). Probably because the women know that once they marry, it is game-over?

Women in their 20s are in a prime age to be a prostitute. Even when they are not actively advertising, I find that they are quite available. It doesn't need to be hard cash, a nice dinner or a pair of shoes will do just fine. Here in NYC, there is an overflow of young women, beautiful, with college degrees, talented ... yet they find it hard to break into a real career. As a result, many live with 2 or 3 roommates in 2 bedroom walkup apartment.

Now let's talk about models. A long intro to say this: here in NY there really is an over supply of attractive young women. They have a hard time getting started. The competition is ferocious. If you are a guy with some money, they are fair game. And the non-pros are happy with $200.

The only reason that I can think of why the price for a woman pro escorts maybe a tad higher is that women have a higher cost structure. Hair, make-up, lingerie all cost money. A guy can just look hot in jeans and a t-shirt.

I was not surprised at the cost difference. It wasn't but a couple of years ago, I easily found a site for female escorts. Can't remember it of course. But, I think they are easily found. I agree with TH1. If I recall, the prices per hr/night were about double. I found a bargain with my guy! On a number of issues! WG2

There is a narrow line between 'all women are fair game' meaning that he can ignore the fact that they may have a relationship and he can try to have sex with them despite that, and 'all women are fair game' meaning he is entitled to fuck them regardless of what they actually want to do. Male privilege doesn't always see the difference.

That's a good point that I hadn't thought of, but the costs probably aren't that much higher. Makeup and lingerie are can be amortized over long periods. The hair is $60 a pop. In the non-pro world, some guys actually care about the accessory brands, which increases the costs considerably.

Let's take out guys in college or in their 20s, since they aren't the prime market for P4P

So let's talk about everyone else. Sure, there's on over-supply of hot young women in NYC, and most have no problems having casual sex. But on a particular night, the guy may not find one of these hot girls, even if he's out. Seriously, go to a straight club and sit down. A group of guys can sit for hours on their own. Maybe they've found one girl who is trying to evaluate which one of them to talk to. The rest are sitting there waiting, even though there are hot girls on their right and left but no one coming together. And these are guys who want to get laid that night.

That's why it's easier for them to call a pro or semi-pro. I'm sure that, as you say, there are semi-pro college girls on CL going for $200, same as in the gay world.

It doesn't need to be hard cash, a nice dinner or a pair of shoes will do just fine.

All relationships are ultimately transactions if the guy is paying for everything. But dinner is more of a signal than a payment, and his dining partner is going to want more than a one night stand.

'Moshe' did not mean he is entitled to fuck them regardless of what they actually want to do. I have not known him long (three years on and off), but am sure of this -- his emotions are out there for everyone to know.

I am certainly not unbiased myself. Nor am I a saint.

And yes, I do go to straight clubs. 'Lavo' always tries to maintain a 80% women, 20% guy ratio. I find that extreme. But it makes it a buyer's market so to speak. The other place I go to is 'Pacha' - a dance club that people in their 20s favor. It's a free for all there. In both places I see men hitting on women all the time. Drunk or not.
