I'm in the "backpage is OK if you're careful" camp and just had this text exchange with a dude whose ad intrigued me.....this entire thing happened in a matter of two minutes or so.....wondering what I did wrong....

Me: hey, lowkey dude here, only want to watch you strip and get off, just put on a show, no more, sound ok?, thanks

Him: yea, how much can you bring me

Me: wow, fast reply!....this won't be until mid-July, sorry....200 for outcall for an hour of your time

Him: your blocked

Him: STOP

his ad mentions a rate of 200....was it the fact that I was planning way ahead that bothered him?....or what??....

wow, navigating the mean streets of backpage is sorta edgy and fun, to be honest!!!!

Backpage advertisers in my experience are more often geared toward clients who are looking for right now or soon, not days out, and especially not weeks out. It wouldn't be surprised if the guy you exchanged texts with thought you were a bullshitter because you wanted to talk now about an encounter for next month.

This is my thought also azdr. Most friends who hire off BP do so at the time they make the call, or perhaps for that night. You inquiring about something next month probably spooked him.

thanks for the replies....yeah, the mid-July plan certainly appears to be the only controversial thing in our exchange.....but his quick "you're blocked.....STOP" reply was sorta freaky and rude.....oh, wait, this was on backpage.....never mind!

The only thing you did wrong is not noticing this was a red flag. This is exactly what I was talking about in the other backpage ad. Most guys have no rates, they just want to hustle you out, but then it makes things worst because you get to name the price. You could have said $60 and he'd probably say yes. Then, Another client asks to do something for $60, because the other 10 backpage guys said, "how much can you give me".

Shady business off the bat. But you're not alone. The responses to the ads are just as bad. thats if someone is 'lucky' to get a response at all. Honestly, no one is even calling backpage in my area anymore. I've had maybe 3 people contact me in the last month. All 3 of them were flakes. But when all the other 3 major escort sites are just as dead, you just have to pick your death.

Can't wait to go on tour. It was supposed to be in progress but alas, had people ask me out to Pride events this weekend and the storm washed out my travel plans.

Unless the guy was planning to rob you, I really doubt he would have accepted anything as low as $60.

Azdr,

My only suggestion is that you should have included the mid-July in your 1st post although a lot of Backpage ads are from travelers. So of course of this guy had been traveling, he might not be in your area in mid-July.

What did he mean he had Blocked you? Whatever it was, it obviously must have occurred after he told you about it, or otherwise you would have never received his message.

I’ve used BP before. You didn’t do anything wrong, however, I wouldn’t normally be asking for an advance appointment, especially a month in advance. If I were to be asking about an advance appointment, I would put that in my very first communication. When I’ve received a reply such as “how much can you bring me” or “how much do you want to spend”, I stop the communication.

One additional suggestion/comment: Unless time is of the essence for a reply, use the Reply option in the BP ad for your initial communications. You provide your email address, giving the advertiser the leisure of responding at his convenience. Save any phone communication (texts/phone calls) for when you’re actually ready to hire him. Some advertisers choose to not include the Reply option in their ad. I pass on them.
