What podcasts do you listen to?

Posted

When I moved to NYC I gave up my car. (Fucking liberating, I'll tell ya.) So I never find myself with radio-listening time anymore. I like to download the weekly podcast of Wait Wait Don't Tell Me (NPR's weekly news quiz) and listen while on the subway, waiting in line, etc.

Thanks for this query, Chris.

I follow too many podcasts.

The ones I listen to most dedicatedly aside from the usual suspects (ThisAmericanLife, PlanetMoney, NYT Book Review) are:

  • Death, Sex & Money - really moving/fascinating first person narratives about title theme/s

  • Reply All - weird/cool deep dives into internet arcana

  • Criminal - surprising explorations of the experience of crime

  • RISK - first person stories that really go there
  • Fugitive Waves - digging into the backstory of "sound shards" (found recordings, aural traditions, etc)

TheNewYorker fiction podcast is also great.

I've yet to find a podcast about sex (aside from the occasional RISK episode) that's reliably worth listening to.
