Whatever data you're using is five years old. Referring to the second of three links in my earlier post from the oral cancer foundation: "White, non-smoking males age 35 to 55 are most at risk, 4 to 1 over females". The info I'm proving from the first link from the CDC was updated Feb 2015 which is mentioned on the site. Also on the site, the oral cancer foundation was from Sept 2014. The Mount Sinai site on HPV was from this year 2015.

Cases are indeed, rising but the fundamentals of what I'm saying have not changed. With 20+ years in healthcare and a significant understand of both virology, clinical laboratory medicine and clinical pathology, I stand confident that regardless of the exact figures the efficacy of outcome remains the same. I see no point in continuing.

  • A complete physical examination, full battery of the appropriate laboratory diagnostic tests
  • A type III biological containment lab for starters.
  • Once those conditions are met both the escort and the client strip down, douse themselves in lubricant and enter there yellow suites with self contained oxygen rebreathers.
  • Each enters the room through a separate airlock
  • As your lust filled gazes meet through your visors, you stumble through some cumbersome fore play
  • The night culminates in an orgasmic frontal frotage (with periodic safety checks for abrasions and remaining oxygen)

Now if you excuse me, I need a cold shower after describing this sultry encounter :p:rolleyes:o_O

Safe sex ca. 1983.

I am responsible for myself. While I believe it's a person's moral duty to protect their partner if they are positive, no one should indulge in risky behavior unless they're ready to accept the consequences. I prefer to hire escorts who only play safe, but the reality is that I can't really know. I don't discriminate against people who bareback, it's their choice. The thing for me is that being the type of person that I am, I can't help but worry about them. If an escort barebacks purely by his choice, fine. But if he barebacks because he thinks he MUST to get clients, it's a real shame. In my world, I prefer escorts who protect themselves because it says to me that they respect their bodies and I respect that. It means that they care about their clients too. As I said, guys who bareback might be putting themselves and their clients at greater risk for what? The almighty dollar? It's a downer for me.

Great way to put it! I don't discriminate against people who do it, but I prefer to mitigate as many risk factors as possible in having safer sex. That being said, I exercise universal precautions and enjoy myself. I can still count my total number of sexual partners on both hands. All have had the "boyfriend" status except for 3 (two of which were my recent escort hires). So, I think sleeping with 7 people after being out over 20+ years doesn't put me in slut territory. If I add up the "relationship time" with the other 4 it totals 16 years. In between boyfriends...I became a solitary monk :p

That being said, am I curious about what it would be like? Absolutely! I've always wondered what it would be like to have unprotected sex. Does it feel a lot different? Is it better? Worse? The same? But short of NASA telling us that a meteorite is going to destroy the planet, the sun's headed to super nova status, or I get a flat tire in West Virginia and get trapped in a 'Deliverance' movie (thank God for Acura Road side assistance :p) I don't know if I ever will let a guy pump me full of his "man juice"!

I was wondering if you guys opt out of hiring porn stars who've done bareback porn or escorts who list never safe or sometimes safe. Do you just hire guys using a condom or limit it to oral sex at most? What about hiring two different guys who bareback and simply watching? In the age of Truvada and PrEP, has that changed your selection when it comes to sex workers? Is there a self-segregation when it comes to STIs?

My own position has been inconsistent. I believe that men who bareback openly are at least forthcoming. An escort who doesn't appear in bareback porn videos and who advertises "safe sex only" may still practice unsafe sex. I've met supposed safe sex escorts who have tried to penetrate me raw, and heard of others who have done so with clients on this forum. I've found guys who advertise safe sex, but who maintain bareback personal or escort ads on bareback sex sites such as BarebackRT. I've always said that you never know how your most trusted escort really lives his personal life.

I've often said that we (and therefore, I) should behave as though everyone has some degree of unsafe practices, and we should play according to our own standards for safe sex regardless of the partner's known behavior. Still, I do a lot of digging into the practices of escorts by finding their aliases on BarebackRT, A4A, and any other source I can find to see if I can expose unsafe behavior; and I have found that I have written off promising escorts because of confirmation of unsafe practices.

I've hired and played safely with two guys in the past three years who advertise on BarebackRT. One advertised safe sex only on either Rentboy or Rentmen, and the other deleted that category from his Rentboy ad. Hiring these guys was not necessarily a bad thing, but I broke my own standard because the guys were extremely hot. Should I tell you about the amazing, skilled, well hung top who advertises safe sex only and who fucked me raw with my full awareness and passive consent, and who I allowed to cum up inside me twice in one session? He really seemed to want to, and seemed to enjoy it a lot. Unfortunately that can be a prime motivator for me; one that I usually guard against. I hadn't made that sort of poor judgment call in years, and I had gone into this meeting pretty pleased with myself for selecting an escort with a supposedly clean profile from the perspective of safer sex behaviors.

These questions come up all the time on this forum. I don't think it's wrong to make decisions about our partners based on what we know of their sexual behaviors. Some of it may help to protect you, and some of it may have no value other than false comfort. It's our own choices that matter most.

Statistics, as statisticians will tell you, are funny things. They analyze mass data very well, but are almost useless when dealing with individual cases.

Tobacco smoking is--as a mass phenomenon-- very bad, but there are people in their 70s, 80s, and up who "smoke like chimneys", but defy the odds. Butter, bacon, animals fats, and rich cream sauces are broadly implicated in many cardiovascular diseases, but some people feast without problems. Sex without condoms is a good way to catch HIV, but some people never display any symptoms. Welcome to the wonderful world of individual genetics, where mutations in your genome can prevent lung cancer, sweep your blood free of arterial plaque, and stop HIV from trashing your immune system.

Can an individual depend on their genetics? Maybe, if you've had your genome sequenced, and know what's inside each and every cell. Then there are additional epigenetic factors, some of which might be rooted in your parents' or grandparents' behaviour. Oops. Don't forget environmental co-factors! Again, statistics come into play.

I read such discussions with bemusement. Everyone is looking for certainty. Everyone wants absolutes. (Well, almost everyone.) There are none. We're all at the centre of a web of risk vectors pulling us closer to the grave. What are your odds of dying in a tsunami if you live by an ocean? About 1 in 50,000 (about 0.002%). Should you move inland? Yes, if you want absolutes. Afraid of earthquakes? (You should be.) Move to beautiful Kapuskasing! The Canadian Shield hasn't had one for millions and millions of years. You will, however, have to endure mosquitoes and the fearsome deer fly...not to mention the clouds of black flies which can drive caribou stark raving mad.

I've made it to my mid-50s without a single incident of an STD. Not even crabs. Maybe I'm lucky. I've had sex with guys that bareback--but not with me. Statistically, 16% of my sex partners were poz, but I didn't ask because condoms are part of sex for me.

PreP and undetectable viral loads made me pause to think. After careful thought, I still use condoms. Why? In such circumstances there may be statistically negligible chances of being infected with HIV, but I am acutely conscious that nothing stands still, and that TNK lurks around the corner.

What's TNK? I don't know. No one does. TNK is The Next Killer disease. Anal sex without condoms could transmit it. Or vaginal sex. Or oral...rimming...even kissing. Who knows? No one. It's the unknowable looming in the background, casting an invisible shadow over everything we do.

But, frankly, I'm not about to move to Kapuskasing to avoid it. I'm just not going live in California, or anywhere on the coast near the Cascadia subduction zone. How you west coasters live with that nerve-racking anxiety is beyond me! ;)

10 things you need to know about the pill to prevent HIV

http://www.vox.com/2014/7/14/5896887/explainer-about-the-pill-to-prevent-hiv-aids-Truvada

"If PrEP is going to have a chance at nudging down the HIV rate, the sub-groups most impacted by HIV will need to have better access to the health system: to get tested, see their doctors, and learn about this option; to have regular health care with proper monitoring and follow up.

Unless Truvada is a miracle drug, it's not clear how a pill will do that."

I think it is a miracle drug of sorts Steven. You have your head in the sand.

Two points you apparently missed:

1) Steven was quoting from the article on Vox. He didn't write the quote.

2) The sentence is referring to Truvada's (or any drug's, really) inability to solve the problem of inaccessibility due to cost.

What was that about head in the sand?

Well said, countryboy.

From what I'm told there's a "surcharge" for barebacking ... so there definitely is a financial factor.

As expected it's radio silence from those concerned.

Although I have encountered escorts who, when asked about condom brand preferences , stated they charge extra for bareback sex, there are some escorts who do not upcharge for barebacking. In fact, when inquiring about getting fucked, one escort (who no longer advertises) said "I have to fuck raw. Condoms make my dick go soft." No mention of an additional charge for barebacking.

You should always have latex, non-latex, and large-size condoms on hand if you're going to play.

I encountered this need for the other day, actually—because someone decided to be proactive and pre-lubed themselves with hand lotion.

Hand lotion dissolves latex? I wouldn't have thought of that, but then I wouldn't have thought of using hand lotion for lube either.

A friend once had a sudden need for lube but all he had available was suntan lotion. He was still talking about it several days later, and not in a positive way.

But.. if the sun doesn't shine down there... is it a problem? :p

I hope you enlightened him on the use of water-based lube.

Hand lotions often have oil-based emollients, which will weaken latex. I wasn't going to take the risk.

Good for you. I've used hand lotion to JO with after forgetting to pack the lube when travelling. Not a huge fan. I can't even imagine getting fucked after using lotion as lube.

I think it was alcohol based. I'm starting to itch just thinking about it.
