I hate to be dogmatic about this, but cats are a cataclysm waiting to happen while the canine is just such doggone fun. Cat spelled backward is tac, 60% of the way to tacky. Dog spelled backward is God. I rest my case.

That said, many of the cats I've lived with have had very dog-like qualities. I liked dogs long before I liked cats, and if dogs weren't more work than I have energy to give, I'd love to have a beagle or a beagle mix.
