Thanks for anyone who comments on this matter. Last night I was googling

for some "x" rated male porn sites. Usually get the same list, pornhub,

x-videos, xxx.com, etc. I've searched for years. I was looking for a specific short

"show" with two young men, show was in black and white, they were country men and

having bareback sex. So I was doing some googling and then got this message

which was an entire website but in general said, The National Security Agency in

collaboration with Time Warner have locked your browser and it will not be

unlocked until you pay a $500 fine through paypal; then there was a big paypal

link. I know i was a bad boy for googling for some hot man to man action, I

couldn't get out of the site until I turned my computer off and rebooted. Anyone

see this before, it can't be legit can it? Thanks, Rocky

Think about it. If Time Warner AND the NSA was going to lock your computer, would they ask you to pay 500.00 through PAYPAL?

The answer is No. This is a Scam. You might want to scan for viruses.

Rocky, now that you've got the scam question answered, let us know if--after you rebooted--you visited some religious sites or went right back to hunting for hot man action.

This happened to me a few years ago and those bastards really did freeze my computer. It was very bad. I knew it was a scam.

My computer guy fixed it by essentially "erasing" the time period on my computer for when the lockout took place.

I hear this happens often when viewing porn sites.

Rocky,

If you Google for such scams, you find a number of postings by people who have experienced just what you have. I have also received similar scam pages (IRS, FBI, etc) all offering to make my troubles go away for a payment.

If you're using Firefox add No Script to your addons. Also there is a free software fix when your computer gets hijacked like that but I can't remember the name. It happened to me a few years ago and I had to download the software on a flashdrive using another computer then plug flashdrive into infected computer and reboot. Cleared up the problem and No Script seems to keep it clean.

These are the kind of headaches that Mac users never experience. Theoretically, perhaps it could happen, but I've never heard of anything like this happening on a Mac. (The threat may pop up, but it generally can't screw up your computer, if you're using a Mac.)

Do you have an antivirus program that runs in real time to detect bad websites and also scans in the background to try to prevent unauthorized access or downloading of viruses/malware?

No, this can rarely affect your Mac in any serious needs to be professionally erased type way that's true, BUT I have experienced similar things on my MacBookPro when browsing unfamiliar XXX sites, mostly an INSISTANCE that I download a program or something and click "accept" which will be the only thing high-lighted, it freezes the page won't let you close the window or close the browser etc and only shutting down and restarting makes it go away. (anything ending in an EXE as in execute, PULL the plug n shut down if you have to but NEVER NEVER continue)

The IBM System/360 had a large red button on the front of the main frame, at the Console. It was labeled "in case of emergency, PUSH" or some such. Apparently, it literally pulled the plug.

Right under the "360" on the sign.
