>The boxes also have a hobby...they collect dust.

<chuckle>

I've been on a campaign for several years NOT to collect "stuff" for exactly that reason. It led to a fairly spartan environment for a while.

But eventually, stuff creeps into your life. People give it as gifts, or you just lose your resolve. And then you actually acquire other stuff to go with the stuff you already have, all of which leads to hiring a cute nekkid cleaning boy to dust all the stuff.

Not a *bad* result, all things considered. }(

At one time, I was totally crazy about piloting, and took lessons every chance I had the money. I read piloting books every spare minute of the day, took field trips to airports, hung out at flying schools all weekend, and even sucked off a couple of pilots in exchange for lessons!

But then, after about six months, I woke up and realized I had lost ALL interest in flying.

It's not the first time that's happened to me. Whenever I pick up a new hobby, I often go overboard with it, and then burn out after six to nine months.

Weird, huh?

On the upside, I am slightly adept at about 30 different hobbies. :)

>Is this why you call yourself ONEfinger, did you accidentally shoot the other 9 off }(

Take your choice -- I'm either OneFinger because:

1. I did lose some digits in an accident

or

2. I'm always using one (very prominent) finger to communicate with people who really piss me off.

So, which one you think it is? :+

Is it possible that his TIGHT mangina (his man-pussy / his manhole) can only accommodate ONE finger ? Just wondering out loud ???

Hobbies - I think once you get out of high school and you move on to college or university and you broaden your interests and eventually start actually making money as opposed to making a living then you move from having a hobby or two to becoming a serious obsessive passionate collector - YES !!!

My dear friend - (?) - has one of the most darling OLD homo passions he collects vintage costume jewelry and has done this for almost 2 decades and has more than 500 pieces. A big part of the passion for him is dressing up to go to estate sales, auctions and previews.

My passions -

BOTS - more than 50 pairs (now I need to collect boot slaves)

Photographs - vintage and contemporary male erotica - more than 100 pieces

Art and Photography books - first editions - more than 750

Nikon cameras - still have the first one I bought in high school shen I started shooting almost 40 years ago - now have 15 of them. It is interesting how much that early hobby drove my adult passions / obsessions.

Watches - vintage and contemporary (I find jewelry on a man repulsive) but think nothing of spending several thousand dollars on a watch and have more than a dozen, the nice thing is they take up so little room compared to anything else you can collect. It is the ultimate indulgence to wear a different beautiful time piece each day. Also - the only piece of jewelry a man really needs or should ever own ! Well - I don't mind a PA or pierced nipples. SO I guess my real belief is that other types of jewelry should be discovered(LOL).

Passions I have given up on because of space restrictions / boredom / items to popular . . . too expensive.

First editions of new magazines - did that all through the late 70's and 80's, how I wish I had hung on to them with the invention of E-BAY. I probably threw away $4-5 thousand worth.

Depression GLASS - just lost interest.

Art Deco decorative accessories - SOLD and made $ $ $ to pay for new passions and collectables.

Turn of the century pottery - too fragile and took up too much room but still get intensely excited whenever I discover a piece in an unexpected setting.

I have 3 hobbies:

#1 passion outside of work - being an avid classical musician (oboe player)

#2 staying fit - (so I can have a better class of sex partner, or when I do pay, my partner will be more enthusiastic about it)

#3 doing location sound recordings of mostly amateur classical music groups (but I do regular archival recordings for a chamber music series and occaisonal professional recitals).

Thanks for bringing this forward from a year ago - I actually forgot I had written it - given that I guess I rarely post a response more than once a month. Let me bring you up to date on my passions !

A year ago I said - My passions -

BOOTS - more than 50 pairs (now I need to collect boot slaves)

I only bought 4 pairs of boots this year - but they are too beautiful for words and I am thrilled with them.

Photographs - vintage and contemporary male erotica - more than 100 pieces - I sold 5 pieces this year and acquired 3 new pieces.

Art and Photography books - first editions - more than 750 - I bought dozens of new books this year in New York, LA, London and Berlin and love them all - one can never have too many books !

Nikon cameras - still have the first one I bought in high school shen I started shooting almost 40 years ago - now have 15 of them. It is interesting how much that early hobby drove my adult passions / obsessions. Actually broke down and bought a digital this year and use it only for power point presentations as it is so easy and convenient - actually even I am shocked by how much I love and embrace this new side to shooting.

Watches - vintage and contemporary (I find jewelry on a man repulsive) but think nothing of spending several thousand dollars on a watch and have more than a dozen, the nice thing is they take up so little room compared to anything else you can collect. I am so sorry to say that I did not add a single watch to my collection this year.

I also realized I had another weird hobby - I ADORE staying at new boutique hotels within months of them opening. During the past decade I have stayed at more than 50 such hotels. I love the 'newness / understated minimalism ideally' I am not quite sure what that obsession / fetish is about - but I have alreay booked 2 new hotels for spring of this year.

As for hobbies, well I had a few before last year...I competed heavily in a TKD league and did a lot of volunteer work.

Now, I have dropped out of the sport due to injuries and lack of desire.

Most of my free time is dedicated to 3 kids that I have as part of a Big Brothers program. I spend a lot of time doing stuff with these guys (teenagers) like movies, eating cheap diner food, snowball fights, and dealing with girlfriend problems...best hobby I ever had

I enjoy reading (at least two books a week) from bestsellers to historically-themed works.

I enjoy travelling (esp to Europe), but even a short trip in my car to somewhere in the tri-state area can be relaxing and rewarding.

I collect rocks and minerals and have enjoyed hiking and going deep down into mines (working and/or abandoned) to collect specimens.

I also collect attractive wooden cigar boxes (and sometimes use them to display the nicer mineral specimens that I have managed to collect).

At last count, I had over a 100 cigar boxes and there are rocks and minerals all over my small studio, including the bathroom.

Since I also enjoy cooking, the kitchen is currently off limits to my hobby collections.

To the guy who said he collects candles and his house resembles a wax museum, you are NOT alone !

My hobbies have changed. Used to be collecting mugs, holiday decorations, rubber stamps, et.al.

Now that I've moved several times, my hobbies are now only keeping a scrapbook, books and music I'll use more than once, and getting rid of stuff I don't need.
