IDK I always wonder HOW hard it would be for the largest most common used site like RB to REQUIRE that every scort snap a phone pic or something holding a piece of paper with their ESCORT PROFILE NAME on it??? And IF they are posting photos showing their face they MUST show their face as well in the pic. The fakers using stolen full body and face photos of hot fitness models etc etc would be knocked out immediately. The rest would be required to show at LEAST as much in the pic as they show in their ads, and at the very LEAST 1/2 would be knocked out cause they couldn't match the body or tats or whatever. IDK, it takes TEN SECONDS to write a name and snap a phone pic, doesn't seem that hard to eliminate WHOLE BUNCHES of scammers, no???

You are forgetting that their main interest is charging for ad space, not verifying every Tom's Dick is Harry.

As someone who advertises on RB I have to say that as logical as your argument may sound it will never happen and here's why: There are 400+ ads in the NYC market alone on that site; The cost for a 1-month ad in this market is $60. With profits like that.... Also, unlike the "family-owned" agencies of the past, RB has no incentive to verify their advertisers who are independent contractors, not employees. But most importantly your idea would fail as an effective vetting agent because, though I frequently

visit their office to process payment and chat with their customer service staff, most do not. EVERYTHING IS DONE ONLINE. The escort provides, electronically, their own pictures (which can be photoshopped or not, hand with namecard included), and their own copy (tho for a fee, RB will take the info you provide and help write your ad for you.) They are an efficient and effective clearinghouse. Period. Daddy's Reviews, by contrast, has an alltogether different mandate, with checks and balances in place to provide as close to an effective vetting as you're likely to find. Two polar-opposite business models with different mandates.

It means he's full of shit. That is not a service rentboy provides, and he's already lying to you in his ad.

Hmmmm that's what I assumed. Re it will never happen re less $$$ will come in (because the scammers would have to stick to BPage and other sites) that's OUR fault ME included, for not writing RB after being scammed and saying I'm E-ing every one of their advertisers saying they allow false ads and I'm no longer patronizing. (Guess there's a REASON they don't have a review section of their OWN :-)

Jett in Philadelphia

For years I've shot photos of escorts and porn stars, including Rod Hagen. This past Saturday I photographed Jett. He was visiting D.C. and stopped by for a quick photo shoot. Didn't fuck they guy (damn), but I can verify his pics are real and his ass is prime!!! And a nice guy. Added a post to Rentboy's Twitter account. Maybe this is one way of going about the verification process. I'll do my part. :)

Maybe because the same way they don't verify pics, neither do they verify text? See Ares' reply on page 1.

I read Ares’ post and replied to it (post #10).

Rentboy’s FAQ under the Listing Approvals category states:

“Why does my listing need to be approved

Listings require approval to ensure content follows our guidelines and to successfully process the financial transaction of an order.”

This certainly suggests that all ads are reviewed by Rentboy for content. Of course, Ares may be correct, and the only approval process is to make sure the payment goes through.

Ares, welcome to the Forum.

Everyone else, this man (Ares) is a serious, highly intelligent guy. One of the most decent men in the business. (That he is movie star handsome and buff does not hurt a bit.)

Hello? Rentboy is a for-profit org

If you’re suggesting that because Rentboy is a for-profit company that they are absolved of any responsibility for what gets published on their site, then we disagree. However, if you’re saying it’s all about the money with little to no regard for the safety of clients using their site, then we probably agree. Readers should check out Rentboy’s Terms and Conditions/FAQs to decide if they think RB is making any reasonable effort to enforce them.

Re: Andy2 (comment#19) You humble me, thankyou! Re: Miami Looker (comment#18) I wasn't suggesting there were NO content review or approval processes beyond the financial. Just that they're about...well...protecting themselves legally. (And yes, I KNOW that sounds oxymoronic considering what their ad space is "offering"--- as in the theater, we'll

have to do some suspension of disbelief on this one.) BUT, notice there are no pornographic (legal definition) pix on the site, nor will you read about advertisers selling drugs or killing puppies or transporting radioactive materials across state lines. So see, there IS content approval! But there's that pesky line between content being approved (within their own standards) and content being verified. They've provided a vast clearinghouse of source material for scrutiny.... Look, many advertisers have no need to self-aggrandize or be anything other than the hardworking men they are, out to make an honest buck like anyone else, while consciously maintaining the safety

and integrity of all involved. But sifting thru that vast array of source material is up to you.

What I am suggesting is that Rentboy's business is built on a Quantity Model for Income not a Quality Model for Income. The way Rentboy makes money is selling ads. Good escorts, bad escorts, con-artists, hoaxes where the ex-bf is posting his ex's photos for revenge all seem to appear on their web site. The universe of possible ads is must greater when Rentboy includes all possibilities for advertisements.

So yes, I'm saying the the provider of advertising is absolved of all responsibility for what's published as long as they photos published are within Federal law. I am also saying the Rentboy has little regard for the safety of clients - they have absolutely no responsibility at all for the clients. And finally, Rentboy is ALL about the MONEY!

Finally, the "Quality Model for Income" wouldn't work in this business. A quality model would mean that every escort is vetted and assessed. Sorta like what happens on Daddy's Reviews. But the problem with that model is Rentboy, or whomever wanted to go this route, needs a piece of the escort's income to finance the site. That ain't gonna happen.

So, back to the OP’s original question “How hard would it be for rb to verify scort pix????”

It wouldn’t be difficult at all. There are members of this message forum that find fake pics in RB ads in about 30 seconds. But don’t hold your breath waiting for RB to do this. I’m guessing the scammers account for a sizable portion of RB’s revenue, so why would RB kill the golden goose by monitoring adherence to their own terms and conditions?.
