Has anyone tried "Belief-O-Matic" yet? This is really kind of cool. Based on your answers to 20 questions, and the weight you give each question, you are pointed toward various world religions. Plus, you're shown, in histogram form, how well you relate to other religions.

Practically all religions, from Adventists to Agnostics to Zoroastrians are included. So, give it a spin, be honest in your answers. The Belief-O-Matic may open up a few new avenues for you as you explore your spirituality further.

The disclaimer is cute too: Warning: Belief-O-Matic™ assumes no legal liability for the ultimate fate of your soul.

Give it a spin, and, if brave, post your results for all to see. My result came out "Orthodox Quaker" which actually fits pretty well.

I thought it would be easy. It wasn't, partly because the "answers" were stupid or inadequate or reductive and simplistic, partly because I couldn't figure out how "important" something was, and partly because they didn't ask the kinds of questions I wanted to answer. Or something. I just gave up. So I don't know what I am according to the test. Fortunately, I don't need the test to tell me.

deej: So did I, with Unitarian next in line. No big surprise here.

Hi everybody,

The results of the Quiz stated me as a ....

haps I get educated, enlightened ... I shall give it a try.

Have a pleasant evening

Here are my top 5:

1. Eastern Orthodox (100%)

2. Roman Catholic (100%)

3. Orthodox Quaker (92%)

4. Seventh Day Adventist (90%)

5. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (85%)

Secretly, I knew there was some Quaker in me as I love their fashion sense.

taken from here http://www.religioustolerance.org/neo_paga.htm

Just as the term "Eastern religions" refers to Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, etc., the terms "Neo-Pagan" "Neopagan," and "Pagan" refer to a collection of separate religions that share a few common themes.

A Neopagan religion is a modern faith which has been recently reconstructed from beliefs, deities, symbols, practices and other elements of an ancient religion. For example, the Druidic religion is based on the faith and practices of the ancient Celtic professional class; followers of Asatru adhere to the ancient, pre-Christian Norse religion; Wiccans also trace their roots back to the pre-Celtic era in Europe. Other Neo-pagans follow Roman, Greek, Egyptian or similar ancient tradition.

Many Wiccans and other Neopagans refer to themselves simply as "Pagans." Unfortunately, the word has many different meanings -- some quite negative. The term "Neopagan" is less ambiguous.

Many people are confused between Neopaganism and Satanism:

To some Fundamentalist Christians, all religions other than Judaism and Christianity are actually varieties of Satanism. To them, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Taoism, and the various Neopagan religions are all forms of Satanism, or at least are led by Satan or his demons.

To almost everyone else, Neopagan religions are simply individual faith groups with little or no connection to Satanism.

Recognition of Neopagan religions:

Because of the principle of separation of church and state, the U.S. government does not formally maintain a list of recognized religions. Both the U.S. and Canada register religious groups as tax-exempt organizations and grant clergy the right to conduct marriage ceremonies.

However, many European federal governments have ecclesiastical affairs ministries which do formally recognize religions. The governments of: Iceland in 1973, Norway in 1996 and 1999, and Denmark in 2003 have officially recognized Neopagan religions which worship Viking Gods such as Odin and Thor. 1

>ok,so I'm a universal uniterian/new age/neo pagen!!!!

>While the church of my upbringing(RC)was at the bottom of the

>list!

Did you listen to a lot of Enya while doing speed?

Seriously, I was also raised RC and I feel, after such rearing, we RCs tend to land a bit Earthy in our beliefs as if we went Satanic we would truly be forces to deal with. With all that RC rage we either have to be tree huggers and karma chameleons or unabombers.

According to that site, Eastern Orthodox Christians believe that "homosexuality is a sin" and Roman Catholics believe that "homosexual acts are sinful." Is this what you really think?

Does that make you an Orthodox Munroist? I'll be your Messiah if you can make me have a Second Cumming. }(

Odd ... though I really strongly feel that no "god" exists (and I do apologize if actually writing that word offends anyone here) It pegged me at Unitarian Universalist at 100%. Sounds like a nice religion though for people who want one :) after reading the article.

I guess I didn't answer the questions correctly. But I've answered about 500 different items today already ugh.. maybe test taking at the end of the day wasn't the best idea.

What was even more funny was that Catholicism was at the bottom of the list. I hope my entire belief system isn't just reactionary to the oppressive silly rituals and teachings of da pope-a.

Well, I don't believe so as I was downloading porn while taking the test.

Thanks for the fun eastbayguy.

Not surprised by the 100% Unitarian and 96% Secular Humanist. Very delighted that I’m more likely to be a Scientologist (coming in at #20 with a bullet) while my Roman Catholic phase (the one I was born/forced/dragged into--until at the ripe age of 15, and with Nancy’s inspiration, I just said “NO!”) is nearly exiting our countdown at number 27. }(
