DEPRAVED... I saw nothing hilarious in this skit... but, in this country we have freedom of speed, so guess we have to put up with things like this. I rarely watch SNL anymore, in part because of things like this.

I completely agree....

My friends, I must disagree with yinz this time.

The first skit with the star of "50 shades of Grey" was a joke on young people who out of desperation (losers, fuck ups, etc.) want to join Isis to feel powerful and don't know what they're doing.

The 2nd one was just funny, can you imagine a terrorist group who wants "capitalization" because they grew too fast. Who goes to war for money or oil now days? Nobody, right? We'll maybe Halliburton.

I would have mocked them even more.

I hope this brings the real Isis to some Americans who don't watch the news often.

I thought the skit was hilarious. To me it harkened back to the days of SNL decades ago when they would spoof anything.

I grew up in the 70's when shows like All in the Family, Maude and Soap reigned supreme and showed us the good and the bad in ourselves. The fact that there is no way that shows like could even be made today I think is kind of sad.

I respect your thoughts Marylander, but to put it simply....for me, it is too soon.

ISIS desperately needs and wants legitimacy. You just gave it to them. They win.

Well I disagree completely with your analysis, and I think you might feel differently about the SNL skit if you had a child that got his head chopped off in the middle of the desert. For me it has nothing to do with legitimacy, for me it is a matter of respect for those that have lost loved ones at the hands of ISIS. Perhaps there will be a time when I can find humor in what ISIS has done, but for me, nows not that time.....it's too soon. You can laugh, that's you're right, but I saw no humor in it.

But I'm also the guy that thinks we should negotiate ransom with ISIS, but that's another show.

So you grant ISIS complete legitimacy. ISIS wins.

I just saw the clip this am while watching CBS Morning. I agree with the ladies. It turned on my cringe factor up to a 8. I have seen the original commercial many times. The one with the daughter getting out of the car at the airport to join the armed services. If I had not seen the commercial, or had a loved one executed, I would have viewed it differently.P.S. The higher the number, the greater the cringe factor.WG2

I thought the video was funny (The videos are pretty much the only funny part these last few years, with some exceptions) in fact I actually said ISIS out loud before the punchline (lucky guess, but I'm pretty smart), but it's dickish to say to someone who found it inappropriate, that therefore ISIS wins. SOME things are too far for people, that is a legitimate complaint. Jokes rarely, if ever, go too far for me (if they are clever), but some people are more sensitive, that's not wrong. Their not asking for censorship, they're just saying it's not their taste.

Let's see what the Queen of mean humor (who made the toughest jokes about herself) would say about a similar situation....

"...by my doing a jokes it gets them talking about it".

Comedians make people think through jokes, millennials would be even les knowledgeable if it wasn't for late night shows about politics.

It reminds me a little of this film short shown in Britain during the Blitz. The produced just took footage from Triumph of the Will and manipulated it. (Some random Nazi had banned The Lambeth Walk in Germany, calling it "Jewish mischief and animalistic hopping.")

Nazi propaganda minister Goebbels was reportedly furious when he saw it and kicked furniture around as he left the projection room.
