Is Hooville a place for drama-queens? Or are we selfappointed helpers?

Good evening everybody

As animated and heated the discussions were when we, "the Jury", have been confronted to solve Mikel's riddle "To pay or not to pay" ....

once part #2 "The Verdict is in" was coming up, this second thread

died down kind of very quickly.

I was somehow astonished and asked myself the following questions:

1) Is Hooville a place for drama-queens?

2) Or are we selfappointed helpers, each one a little shrink?

Don't misunderstand me, it's not my intention to reanimate the "old

two threads", but I'd like to hear your opinion about the why's in a general way.

Have a pleasant evening

IN MY SIMPLE OPINION .....

I think, for those here who are not gregarious and "all up in people's faces" on a daily basis, it is easy to be both a drama queen and an armchair psychologist behind a keyboard.

I know there are some that will balk at my opinion in that I am implying I am one way in person and one way behind a screen. I am sure there are those here that are Phyllis Dillers in the real world AND cyber world combined. All I know is, for me, it is much easier to dispense advice, talk politics and religion and sex, and speak my mind with little or no self-censoring here than it is in the real world. And I don't think it has anything to do with being in a closet, out of a closet, being an introvert or an extrovert.

I sensed a long rant coming on so I am stopping myself. One thing for sure: I seem to take criticism and being corrected better on the computer then I do in real life.

AND I AM SO FRIGGIN HAPPY A NEW AB FAB IS ON TONIGHT. I bought the coolest cheese and the trendiest crackers for the event!

Cool And Trendy

Of course, some of us on here are drama queens. Certainly, some of us also act like arm chair psychologist. While the drama queen aspect of this board can be tiresome and unfortunate, part of what this board is designed for is to ask advice and give opinions. UaUnambiguously, the questions should all be about escorting situations, but at least for the two or so years I have participated, we have given advice and opinions on computers, travel, films, music and a myriad number of other topics not all related to escorting. I believe this is a good thing, which makes this site stronger and more worthy of interest and participation.

So that leaves us with potential drawbacks to this site and they have been discussed before, in numerous posts: personal attacks, off topic discussions, narrow focuses, etc.

However, as has often been recommended here, drama queens crave attention. If you ignore them, they will lose their audience which they so crave and seek it elsewhere.

As for the psychological aspects, some of the posts lend themselves to such discussions, appropriately so. Some do not. It is not difficult to avoid such posts or threads, if that is what one seeks.

I am absolutely NOT a drama queen!--and don't you forget it, bitch!

However, I was a psychology major as an undergraduate, so I love to analyze and give advice whenever asked, or even when not asked. Sitting here in front of my computer, I feel exactly like the protagonist in Nathanael West's wonderful novel "Miss Lonelyhearts". And no disgruntled counselee is going to come after me with a gun.

I didn't participate in that thread. Frankly, I was surprised that the story Mikel told attracted as much attention as it did. An escort and client each deceived or tried to deceive the other for his own ends. Nothing terribly novel or interesting about that, is there? Is it surprising that people involved in crime don't behave honestly?

>1) Is Hooville a place for drama-queens?

If by that you mean is it a place for people who want to dramatize themselves because they like attention, then of course it is. Just look at how many people here make big, dramatic statements about leaving the message center forever or ignoring another person's posts forever, only to renege on these statements a little later. That sort of thing happens here so often that even in the few responses posted here so far there is one person who has done it in the past.

>2) Or are we selfappointed helpers, each one a little shrink?

Not really. There are plenty of people here who like to use the jargon of psychoanalysis in responding to posts, but they are not by any stretch of the imagination psychoanalysts. For one thing they aren't qualified to diagnose, let alone to prescribe for, anyone. For another thing, while psychoanalysts use the tools of their craft to help others, the people in this message center who use psychoanalytic jargon want to do just the opposite. Their aim is not to help but to ridicule and tear down the people whom they are "analyzing" while pretending they want to be helpful. They're truly a contemptible bunch.
