I love both Disney and WB cartoons from their early years. I have several of the dvd "tins" that Disney released as well as some WB stuff on dvd and blu-ray.

Even though it's animated and the main character doesn't speak a single line, I still think that Disney's "Dumbo" is one of the greatest films of all time.

I'm a huge Disney fan, but I will say that WB's Looney Tunes had some of the best shorts and characters (Bugs being one of them), directors (such as Chuck Jones), voice artists (of course Mel Blanc) and music. Good times and good memories.

While the new computer generated animation is awe inspiring, I really have a strong appreciation and admiration for the "old" way of doing it.

As part of a 'blooper reel', the Warner Brothers gang made this one in 1938 with the incomparable Mel Blanc voicing Porky Pig. It wasn't shown publicly until 2006 when language restrictions had been eased.

When my sister's 3 daughters began enjoying cartoons and movies, I bought them the Disney classics on VHS every year and the collection still sits on shelves in what used to be their nursery. Yes, they had a nursery! Some of my most cherished memories are of sitting with them watching Peter Pan, Cinderella (their favorite), Alice in Wonderland, and all the others as they were released. I also bought them a series of Shirley Temple movies and they were especially crazy about The Little Princess and Heidi. When they got older, I bought them some of the Disney live action films such as Old Yeller, Summer Magic, In Search of the Castaways , Mary Poppins and Bedknobs and Broomsticks. When the eldest, who is now nearly 30, moved into her own place, she took the old VHS player with her and when she comes home, she borrows tapes to watch as the memories are as special to her as they are to me. Old Yeller still makes me sob, and Hayley Mills can do no wrong in anything as far as I'm concerned!

This takes me way back to Saturday morning cartoons and one of the only times the kids got to choose what they wanted to watch.

Maybe for you. I got to watch what my older sister wanted to watch. :) Then we got a second TV (with UHF capability) and oh, the negotiations over the bigger TV vs the little UHF one.
