I hired this guy based on his reviews: http://www.rentboy.com/Listing.aspx?lid=433042&iid=488907&scid=132475217&sp=1&pos=1&locid=403&type=escort

But when he showed up he didn't look anything like his photos. It was a totally different guy. I was very disappointed to say the least.

Here is another example of a fake/bogus ad.

There are so many untruthful ads. If you spend time on escort sites looking for a temporary "Mr. Right" there exists a good probability that the ad is fake or highly exaggerated with outdated photos and false promises. We should keep that in mind when reading through ads that appear on escort sites.

On the other hand, there are truthful ads and we sometimes get lucky and find one or more. When an ad is truthful, and the escort is as stated, it somewhat makes up for the bogus ads, but not fully.

The good experiences are what keep us looking.

Nonetheless, no matter how careful we are with the ads, the risk of a bogus ad remains high.

Really interesting. This ad doesn't have the hallmarks that most fake ads do - it looks pretty legit.

The phony ad reinforces the fact that many ads that appear to be valid, can be and are bogus. We remain subject to being scammed by a bogus ad regardless of how vigilant we investigate the details shown in the ads.

Considering the fact that you hired this guy based on his reviews, and there are THREE good reviews on daddys site, whoever placed the ad had to have stolen the photos AND THE REVIEWS from the real escort.

You said "It was a totally different guy." who appeared at the appointment.

That is a tough scam for us to overcome. We rely on a review (in this case three good reviews) but the reviews were stolen from the real escort.

How can we guard against this happening in the future?

-

Now I'm really confused.

-

One must wonder if the original escort was a part of the hoax or did the guy who appeared do his scam alone.

Did the guy you saw have the same contact info as the guy in the reviews?

Gman

I was wondering the same thing. I had an escort text me a few months ago and identify himself as one of my favorite traveling escorts. After trying to contact the guy at the phone number and email address I had always used for him, I discovered that the man who texted me was not the escort I had seen several times before but an impostor.

Damn! with so many bogus ads out and about, how can we be sure of anyone?

It clearly is by personal referral or by luck if we find someone who is honest and performs as advertised or looks as advertised or is the person in the advertisement.

I want to throw something out there. Several questions have been posed regarding the escort and his ads, yet not one has been answered by the OP. In fact, we have not heard from the OP since the thread was started. The escort has three good reviews, two of which were written by guys who have written reviews in the past. The Rentboy ad contains the same physical description, phone number, rate, and photos as the ad. We are now concluding that the "real" escort's pictures and reviews have been stolen. I suppose it is possible that his cell phone was stolen by someone who knows he is an escort and knows his escort name, but that seems far-fetched. Is it not possible that the OP contacted someone else by mistake? Or perhaps we are being scammed by someone who didn't really hire the escort and is claiming he has. I would not suggest this if the OP was a known, frequent poster, but this is his third post. This just isn't adding up to me.

I agree. I trust the guy with 5+ reviews more than the OP at this point. I didn't intend my story to indicate that I believe the ad is bogus. I was simply sharing an experience I recently had and that has made me ensure the phone number in the ad is the same one I've contacted in the past when re-hiring an escort.

Thanks for speaking up, Killian.

As some are noticing, we have some snakes in the grass. I've been noticing an awful lot of "new" posters making disparaging remarks about escorts on the fringe of common awareness.

Remember, everyone, on the internet there are people who get their jollies solely by tearing down someone else. I won't pretend to understand it but it has existed since long before the WWW came about.

Read smartly (and we'll be watching).

Well I am a 'new' poster, and long time lurker.

What happens when other escorts make disparaging remarks about other escorts?

This is SO strange (rolls eyes) and this is why. I know this escort very well. I text with him often and have worked with him before, really big nice cock :) The number in his ad he has up is the same number I've communicated with him from the beginning. The boy in the pics is in fact the boy in the ad. Prime example here that we can't take what's written online, especially in an open forum as gospel. I'm glad I came across this. Jake is sweet, and doesn't deserve this kind of thing.

Thank you for saying something, Killian. I am also glad you came across this and could set the record straight. Jake is fortunate to have you as a friend.

Thanks for speaking up, Killian.

Thank you, deej (and the moderators), for noticing and for acknowledging this trend in the forum. I'm glad you and the moderators are watching and taking note.

Well, this is highly embarrassing. Apparently I mixed up phone numbers and hired this guy instead: http://www.rentboy.com/Listing.aspx?lid=561943&iid=495179&scid=133283851&sp=4&pos=69&locid=1569&type=escort

I take back what I said about Jake. Again, my apologies. I'm incredibly embarrassed.

I applaud you for admitting your mistake.

There is no need for embarrassment - people make mistakes - that is just how life works.

It is good to know that someone did not steal this guys reviews and use them to trick or fool a client.

Your admission restores faith in first time reviewers.
