I'm not good a good judge of these things, and this is probably going to be a dumb topic - "same words, different meanings." I debated whether to embarrass myself by going through with this, but the literary terminology for this is 'so gay' - that I decided to go forward with it.

The way I understand it is:

A homograph is a word that has the same spelling as another word but has a different sound and a different meaning: lead (to go in front of)/lead (a metal)

A homophone is a word that has the same sound as another word but is spelled differently and has a different meaning: (to/two/too)

A homonymn is somewhat debated - some sources say that it is each of two or more words having the same spelling and sound but different meanings and origins: Bear (animal) and bear (carry) - but others say a homonymn can be that described above, or a homophone, or a homograph.

For hetronymns, you can check another website.

What got me off on this subject was a advertisement for a day spa on my car radio which I heard sort of half-consciously while I was on my way to work yesterday morning. I must have been unconsciously horny, as I started listening closely to the ad as it mentioned "facials" over and over again. By the end of the ad you can guess where my mind was, and it was not on my work. I was wondering if there are lots of similar homo-nymic words out there which would come/cum into the dominant topic of this website, and further, how many of such words can be worked into a sentence? Is this too much to swallow?

Last night on Dancing with the Stars, CarrieAnne Inaba in giving criticism to Anthony Sabado Jr. told him several times that there were parts of his body which were too stiff. That drew titters from the crowd and led me to think how many times I have been too stiff as a result of seeing Mr. Sabados's underwear ads.

Glad I'm not the only one. I noticed a guy driving next to me on my way to work, definitely my type, and my mind was wandering to him all day today. I wasn't very productive.
