My advice is to be absolutely candid, but respectful and polite, about exactly what you want from the encounter -- and communicate that clearly and in advance of your date. My second advice is to wait until he has at least a few good reviews under his belt and also a little bit more experience (less likely to make newbie mistakes and more likely to be comfortable and know what he's doing and what's expected). But really, that advice applies to all encounters.

From my experience, there's not much of a difference when you roll the dice with a regular guy or someone who is considered to be a "porn star" except that (1) porn star status is sometimes used to increase rates; and (2) there's usually some available video of the porn star in action -- which is not usually the case for non "stars." Their performance on camera may not be any indication of what they are like off-camera (could be better, worse, or just different). So be prepared for that.

Off the top of my head, I've seen the following guys -- some were great encounters -- others not so great -- none that I would call bad. I think that had more to do with individual chemistry than any prior work on film:

Rusty Stevens

Luke Marcum

Jasper St. John (Philip Aubrey)

John Magnum

Joseph Rough

Erik Rhodes

Brenden Cage

Tory Mason

Those That I haven't met yet but would like to try, include:

Marcus Mojo

Brett Summers/Carter

Parker London

Benjamin Bradley

Bo Dean

Good luck to you!

I completely agree with the statement RickyDC made above. I would like to add something: if after you clearly communicate what you want the escort does not deliver, nicely stop the session and remind the escort what you and he agreed to. I hired a porn actor who had a few good reviews. We discussed what I wanted in advance and he agreed to it, but when we met he wanted to take up half the session giving me a massage. I nicely suggested that he confused me for someone else and reminded him what I was looking for. When he strayed again, I nicely explained that I was looking for "X" and if he continued to deliver "Y" he would not receive his fee. He delivered "X" like a pro.

Excellent advice given by both RickyDC and rvwnsd. My input may also help: this may be his advertised "debut" but introduced by a friend, I met him about 18 months ago. Throughout our date, he was engaged and performed exactly as promised; I'm a top only and he certainly made me happy.

Although I discovered this thread in a search, damn I am so jealous and envious of you RickyDC --

I have had a fantasy (or more) about John Magnum for some time, but had the impression he was straight and only Gay4Pay in his work and did not advertise as anything more than an occasional masseur.

I only heard one negative about him (and not sure it is 100% accurate, although it came from another guy a highly respect, Tristan Baldwin [and with many caveats as this was an interview going back some time] where Tristan (who I consider exceptional) criticized John when they acted together in a wrestling film.

John has really grown in the role from a muscular young jock to now a muscular, hairy and quite hunky 30-something DILF.

A few others you met, Ricky, that I wish I had not missed were/are Rusty Stevens (I'd mortgage a house and more for a date), Jasper St. John and Tory Mason (also had high hopes for Joseph Rough until he started engaging in "rough" films...).

My experience with porn actors is that you could expect the session to be like a porn scene, and thats not always the case. I've been with Adam Russo, Ray Dalton, Sean Xavier, and Andrew Justice as far as porn actors go and although none of them were bad, and maybe one was phenomenal, but when I compared one of those sessions to his porn acting I can say I left disappointed in that context. But it would of been a great session if I didn't see him in porn scenes and my expectations weren't so high. Hope that makes sense...

kaboom 35 -- excellent point. I have hired a fairly good number of European porn actors and for the most part have been very happy with them.

Here in the States my experiences have not been as positive (some were downright disappointing and expensive). High marks for some such as Antton Harri, Valentin Petrov. Steven Ponce, Michael Bender, Matt Hyland, Michael Vincenzo (one of the first from the US and by far one of the absolute best), and Bogdan (on Michael Lucas goes by Comrade Blu), and there are a few others. Lately I have had my eye on a few but the dates either never pan out (or they yes you to death and then are no-shows) or they get there and expect you to service them (forgetting who is hiring whom).

I do not expect the session to be like a porn scene although that is the fantasy that first draws you to them. Reviews and chatting with others who have personally met and hired them goes a long way in helping decide. My interest in John Magnum was tempered by what others wrote about him back when he had up a rare ad; Rusty Stevens just seems to have the personality and body that push sooo many good buttons on me, and I am envious of whomever gets to come home to that man every night.

I've hired Michael Vincenzo twice and had a great time. I would recommend him without hesitation, assuming I was recommending him to someone who enjoyed playing with a romantic, passionate top whose focus is on his partner. I've also hired Rusty Stevens. To paraphrase Lloyd Bentsen, Rusty Stevens is no Michael Vincenzo.

Thanks for this info. Of the four escorts you've mentioned I've been with one and was disappointed. He didn't really seem as engaged as in his movies. I've been considering an appointment with another one in your list - I'm not a bit more hesitant. (Specific escort names not mentioned on purpose!)

As we all know, I tend to wear my emotions on my sleeve- and I speak what's on my mind, even if it leads to my detriment. Those who've known me or met me know that I don't deal in shades of gray- what is right is RIGHT, and what is wrong is WRONG, and I call a spade a spade. You have to do your best to do right by people in this world, or you will draw bad energy and karma to yourself and flame/burn out.

Two of the names on the list above, I'll throw flames at, right here and now in open forum. Rusty Stevens and I toured briefly(sharing a hotel room in the more expensive cities), and saw tons of clients of clients together. This ended abruptly when I returned to the room(which had only ONE safe in it; where his $ was), to find his stuff completely gone(he left for the airport), and several hundred dollars of mine was gone. T H E I F. So if someone is willing to steal from their touring partner, whom they knew for MONTHS, what do you think his mindset would be about hustling a CUSTOMER? Bad news all across the board, that's why this one disappeared from the industry.

John Magnum is a slightly different story. His body was good, dick is huge, and we share similar backgrounds(he was military as well; Army), getting out within 2 months of the same time that I did. I can't flame Magnum as hard as I do Rusty, because the only animosity that existed between us was 'on set'. It's my belief that one actor is supposed to bring out the best facets in the other actor. If the other actor has a massive dick, find ways to angle it against your face, to show the size, the length, the girth...verbally mention it, worship it, etc. Vice versa, if the other guy has ripped abs, you should be running your tongue and hands all over those fuckers- find a way to make the tape HOT. You have to SELL a tape- it's an equal investment of time and energy from both guys; and although everyone wants to be the 'star' in a film, that doesn't mean you can't 'put the other guy over' too- make him look great. John was just very disrespectful on camera and off, to myself and the rest of the staff that were there that day. Again, another guy who burned out fast in this industry.

One of the first cities he ever toured was Boston- and he did poorly there...followed immediately by verbally bashing the city on Twitter. I'm sorry, but if you can't do well in the first state to legalize gay marriage, then you're not gonna do well ANYWHERE, hunny. Just saying. Also, it might not hurt to deal in phone calls, not just texts and emails, John...a word from the wise.

But then again, what the fuck do I know. I'm a penny short of the two cents required to go on a rant.

Whipped Guy, can I borrow one?

I'll put it out there that you do a right fine rant as far as I can determine. Well said and no need to borrow from WG!!! ;)
