Letter? Someone sent you a snail mail cease & desist? Must not have wanted you to do so immediately.

From what will you be ceasing and whom will you be desisting?

Nah.....not snail mail but a PM from one of our favorites. He wants me to stop posting replies to his threads.

As long as you’re not violating TOS, don’t feel bullied into limiting your forum participation. He’s a coward for not addressing the issue in the open forum.

This CEASE AND DESIST ORDER is to inform you that your harassing and intimidating actions against me has become unbearable. Such anti-social behavior is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated in any way, shape or form. This letter is to demand that your harassment and intimidation must CEASE AND DESIST immediately. Should you continue to pursue these activities in violation of this CEASE AND DESIST ORDER, I will not hesitate to pursue further legal action against you, including, but not limited to, username subpoena, civil action and/or remedy. It has come to my attention that false statements were made by your user name:

 

no wonder that I have never, ever even remotely considered you as a guy to hire.....the whole experience would be soooooo depressing. I guess some guys find you attractive / appealing.....saying "some" might be a stretch.....maybe a few....or a couple......or 1......somewhere......somehow.....for some (unknown) reason.

 

Please note that I have a right to remain free from your intimidating tactics, and we will take the responsibility upon ourselves to protect that right. Note that a copy of this letter and a record of its delivery will be stored. Note too that it is admissible as evidence in a court of law and will be used as such if need be in the future.

 

This CEASE AND DESIST ORDER demands that you immediately discontinue and do not at any point in the future, under any circumstances do the following: a statement that tends to injure reputation, statements made regarding Joey Bryant which are false, defamatory, constitute tortious interference with business, and as such, are actionable under law.

I actually didnt know who was sending these out until I read Mr. Lukas' post. But JB hasn't been advertising for 10 years, has he? I mean I certainly don't remember his ads from that far back.

actually, he signed the PM after the "very truly yours" with his name, which I had left off intentionally.....but then I also noticed he had his name several times in the PM itself.....& I did not care really about crossing it out several more times.....the entire PM is offensive.....oh, & laughable.

I'm commenting on a longstanding practice by some forum members to send obnoxious and/or nasty messages via PM. That's the reason I turned the PM feature off years ago.

That's the best way to handle something like this. You can control who you allow to send you PM's. It's a wonderful feature that keeps the nasty comments out of sight and out of mind....

Tickled that I am not the only one. I see from wklucas that Joey has customized the letters to quote the "offender"'s remarks (insert here).

 

i was going to answer him, not with an irate message, but with one pointing out that the letter is from him and not the courts and, as such, is simply a request to refrain from our God-given right to criticize what has been going on since he joined the forum.

 

I've sent my copy to Deej as has been requested and that should be enough.

 

As far as disabling the PM option, i would like to continue receiving all mail, rants and raves, just so I keep in touch with the reality of what is taking place in the world - you known war, famine, acts of human kindness.

There's a part of me that wants to believe Joey was funning with you guys. How in the hell he thought this letter could be enforced as a Private Message to an anonymous forum member is beyond my ability to comprehend.

 

Having read and replied to numerous posts by Joey, I can tell he didn't write this. It doesn't possess any of his normal grammar.

So PM means Priority Mail as well as Private Message.
