Different rates depending on where one finds the ad?

I recently had the following experience and wondered if anyone else has had it. I saw an ad on Rentboy for a guy that appealed to me in the city (Manhattan) and he was charging $250 an hour. When I emailed him he quoted the same rate.

The following week I saw he was advertising on Backpage in the Hamptons where I have a second home. When I e-mailed him (not referencing our previous correspondence) he quoted a $100 per hour rate.

Guess which rate I took? LOL.

And how was he? Did he perform well enough for a $250 experience? I wonder sometimes if he might even subconsciously know he was charging much less, and therefor be less enthusiastic.

Mr Miniver, this does not surprise me. I remember back in 2001 Chris Steele was here in Pittsburgh performing. I emailed him and asked how much for a session and he said $300. I did not want to spend that much so I did not book anything. Well, the next year I was planning a trip to San Francisco in April and the week that I was going out Chris Steele was performing at the Nob Hill Theatre. Well, I decided I would check him out there first and then see if I wanted to book anything, I did book him and he only charged me $200 (it was one of the best $200 I spent to this day). I asked Chris about this and he said that he does charge different rates depending on the city that he is in. He said he will make a lot more money doing meeting in a city like SF which is why he charged less than when he was in Pgh.

I have actually had an escort tell me that he tries harder when someone books a longer session since they would be paying more, even if the session didn't go the full length.

I know that Backpage is usually a medium for lower price engagements, but I'd think he'd try for more than $100 in the Hamptons.

Anyway, it reminds me of Coke's decision to test vending machines that raised prices when the temperature rose. It works from a supply and demand standpoint, but if people think it's unfair, the business (or businessman, in this case) is screwed.

It was a great experience and he actually looked like his pictures. It was well worth what I paid.
