A good friend of mine just returned from Chicago and had a scandalous time. I've never been but apparently the entire convention hotel was like a large bathhouse (according to said friend), with open doors and ass cheeks for all cummers

I was not there, but have friends who used to come to IML every year, and all the stories they told were exactly what cany shared above. As my friends said, "You will never believe it, unless you see it in person".....so, hat's off to HYATT for being willing to host such an event... I guess it would be better to say "so ____'s off" as almost everything was off during that event every night, and sometimes during the day too. I have also been told that the housekeeping staff get special instructions, as does security in preparation for IML.

I think this year it was at the Marriott. But the Hyatt have hosted it before.

Yes, it hasn't been at the Hyatt for two years now, and won't be there next year. It has been at the Marriott the last two years.

Yes, it has been at the Marriott for the last two years as LookingAround said. This is their large hotel on Michigan Ave (Gold Coast) The hotel was closed to anyone who was not attending IML, and the hotel was sold out to IML attendees, so many other hotels in the area reaped the benefits of the overflow. The lobby was a sea of leathermen in all sorts of attire from jocks to full leather gear. The two huge ballrooms were turned into the Leather Market which was set up with vendors specializing in leather and fetish gear. Many booths were doing demonstrations. This is quite an event to witness. Guys come from all over the world to this event. Bars were set up all over the lobby and market, so as guys guy a little buzzed, things started to happen - cocks being sucked, groping, etc. Hardly anyone was in normal street clothes since most were in some sort of leather or rubber gear. And as Cany said above, it was like one large bathhouse. But the real action takes place in the hotel rooms themselves. Here is where all the orgies take place. I had a fantastic time I got to see so many friends that I only get to see a few times a year. IML is what you make of it, you can have a sleazy sex filled weekend or spend it socializing with your pals. In my case I did a little bit of both! No matter what you end up doing you will have fun and meet a lot of really interesting people. I lucked out and had friends that knew some of my favorite porn stars so I got introductions which turned out to be really embarrassing when a had a fan boy moments with them and gushed all over the place.

 

IML is worth attending for the sheer spectacle of it all plus you can get some amazing play in with some of hottest guys on the planet. If you ever have the opportunity go at least once.

I went to IML once when I still lived in Chicago. While everything said here is true, what I found most remarkable is how Chicagoans don't even blink an eye at the sea of leathermen walking around downtown Chicago.

well this was my first IML. aside from all the obvious stuff to see, I found myself repeatedly fixated on how the Marriott put up wood "panels" to visually block the scene outside the hotel entrance (men in assless chaps, furries, guys in full on rubberwear, and of course many near-naked dudes). perhaps I'm not explaining it right, but just outside the hotel entrance doors, in the covered part of the entrance, there would be hundreds of men hanging out smoking - and most of them were not even visible from the street. I know because I stayed at the overflow hotel, and multiple times each day walked up to the Marriott myself. the hotel staff obviously knew what they were doing to keep the visual controversy down.

 

I, on the other hand, apparently don't. I was berated at the Annual International Mr. Leather Contest by my good friend DavidSF... for being the only guy in the audience in nothing but running shorts and sneakers. it seemed that everyone else, true to their fetish, was in leather garb. what the hell, at least I was freeballing... hahaha. by the way, I did a mini-writeup of some of my time at IML, on the "Shurgging" thread I posted several days ago.

 

if anyone's curious and hasn't seen it yet, the IML official website is http://www.imrl.com and features on the front page, this year's IML winner (a dude from my current town, DC! "Ramien Pierre").

WOW, Mormons and all....

 

Leather isn't my thing, but reading this thread I'm just amazed to hear that a leading Mormon-owned property is taken over for IML.

 

And by Mormon owned - the Marriott family as well as the LDS Church. I wonder if they take the KJV Bible, The Book of Mormon and JW Marriott's biography out of the nightstands for this event.
