Yesterday evening, I was in the lobby of an upscale hotel in the Times Square are of New York about 8 p.m. Using my IPad. (It's free internet in the lobby.)

It's a large lobby and was not busy at the time. When I looked up, I saw an Asian man sitting across from me. He was wearing a tank top on a rather cold day, and one rather large nipple was hanging out of the skimpy shirt. When I looked up, it appeared he was ready to make eye contact, but I am very shy and was not expecting anything like that. He stayed there quite a while, getting up once, but quickly returning.

The area west of Times Square, Hell's Kitchen, is the new gay area of New York, so perhaps he was just killing time before the bars get going. Yet his proximity to me was not accidental, nor was the displayed tit. I was clearly a man alone, and, with no jacket, likely a guest of the hotel.

Now he could have been hustling, but, although he had a decent body, he was probably 40 years old. So if he was a working man, he didn't work. He did seem ready to cruise, though.

I like Asian men, but I was dead tired, and,as I say, shy on these things. Had he spoken first, I would have spoken with him. Since he didn't, I am left to wonder why he chose to sit there of all the empty chairs.

Hotel lobbies are good cruising spots. I know a few guys, non escorts, who cruise them and the hotel bars for action. Go back tomorrow. Maybe he'll be back in the same chair with the same alluring tank top. Strike up a conversation and you'll get to see both nipples......

Fuck, this response is "hot!" [i know how to "fire up" some nips with just my finger tips! This was acknowledged by a "late" escort as well as by one of my former masseurs!!!]

In retrospect, I have no doubt that he was making himself available. Probably for free too. But, alas, I wasn't up for anything anyway. A week in New York wore me out. On my flight to LA today, a very friendly young man from Beijing sat next to me. Cute, too. But, again, alas, he didn't speak much English, and his mother was sitting behind us!

Yeah, he was hitting on you. From what you wrote, it sounds like you thought he was doable but you weren't super attracted. lIf you had been REALLY attracted, your body language would have shown interest and he would have noticed and made a move.

(This sort of logic always annoys the guys I date. :))

"The area west of Times Square, Hell's Kitchen, is the new gay area of New York, "

Having previously lived in NYC for 13 years ('87-'00), that statement is a little off. It is definitely NOT the new gay area of New York as it has been fairly gay for as long as I've known.

dcguy20, thank you for reading the thread. Sure, gays have been all over New York. But I am of the opinion, not unsubstantiated, that gay life first centered in the Village, then moved to Chelsea, and now has migrated to Hell's Kitchen. Rising rents have often driven this, but now with rents high everywhere, it must be that they want to be Clintonites! :)

I find the quoted statement to be highly hilarious. Let folks evaluate hotels, etc. on their own terms, por favor! :) :) :)

To me, upscale hotel means something like the Plaza Athenee not a big Marriott in Times Square with sweaty fat people from Kentucky (yes, I know that was mean, sorry).

There are plenty of fat, sweaty people in New York, too.

Gentlemen, gentlemen, this is America we are speaking about. There are sweaty fat people everywhere. No single locale has a lock on this.

Go to Las Vegas - and they are ALL wearing short shorts and tube tops!!! Sort of like the youtube earlier about what not to wear to Wallmart!
