My avatar has been accused of using Photoshop to make her fur look fuller and glossier, but she denies it.

Thanks for posting this, Maryland. I remember the Dove ad that started this trend. It's certainly true that everyone looks better after Photoshop.

The main issue I have with videos like this is that they imply that models look similar to everyone else in real life. (It's the same idea that makes those "celebs without makeup" spreads so popular.") If that were truly the case, why would modeling agencies be in business? If Photoshop were so powerful, why not hire any random person off the street?

I spend a lot of time in the Meatpacking district in NYC, so I see a lot of models in person. Trust me, they look preternaturally beautiful in person. Even in this video, it's clear that the woman is stunning without any help.

No doubt many of them are hot even without makeup, but photoshop does help.

I want that too but in real life not in pictures only.

"Photoshopping" is not new. The Duchess of Windsor demanded "final approval" before the publication of any photograph of her; non-complying photographers and publications were "persona non grata". The Duchess had a discernable "cleft" which ran up the center of her forehead; a feature she heartily disliked and which was "air-brushed" from all "official" portraits of the lady.

My work with magazine spreads and photographers enabled me to see scads of models and celebrities...bare faced....wet hair....no Spanx...one common thread?...most of them have very large heads and over sized eyes....
