Or take a coin and flip them both. :p

Did Andra really say she had never seen James kiss a guy? What's up with that? It's tough to tell with how the show is edited but James sounds like he umm has a couple of issues himself.

Viewer guide. Brian---better body. Wes----better personality. Both completely fuckable otherwise.

Oh yeah, does anyone know the strippers they hired for the show? And of course.... do they escort?}(

RE: Your Thoughts???

Well, since he now knows there is one straight guy in the group, could he be so stupid to think Franklin was gay? While he might have picked Franklin if he thought all were gay, I can't see him being so lame as to still go that way. I'd pick Brian in a heartbeat. But I suspect, dear James is still single in the big bad WeHo world.;-)

What if he thinks he can make Franklin gay? Franklin already seems pretty close to the edge anyway!

RE: Your Thoughts???

I believe Franklin is straight, but he has played the game very well

by going all out to win over James. Wes has done the same thing, even more so ("For me, the game is over right now"). James and Andra have to deal with the fact that one of three remaining mates is straight,

with little time for reflection. In that atmosphere, Wes might seem

more of a player than Franklin.

As much as I like Franklin, the mates comments about his hair were very funny. The clear inference is that Franklin has not made many friends with the mates, despite that "let's get together" note (probably from Sean). One guy at work suggested that Franklin has a tub of hair gel and several changes of clothing flown in every night.

Finally, the producers of "Boy Meets Boy" did a good job. I feel bad for Robb and wish he was in the final three. We barely got to know him, but he may have been the nicest of all the mates.

>The one who really concerns me more than the guys is Andra.

That's very kind of you to think of Andra.

Who knows how much of the reactions we see are genuine, but in the tiny snippet they showed of the next episode, Andra seems devastated (and angry) when she hears the "surprise" news.

On the other, I thought there was something disturbingly repressed about James' "raised eyebrow" reaction.

Did anyone catch the whole disclaimer that was shown at the end of the show (black screen with white print)? It went up and down so fast that I only caught the first few lines. It started out something to the effect that the producers consulted with the leading man regarding eliminations ... Is this the show's official notice that the whole thing is staged? I'm tempted to tape the next show so that I can read the whole thing.

RE: Your Thoughts???

Even my daughter (15 y/o) figured out that Franklin must be the straight one since he was paired up with Sean. Can James (and his "friend") be that clueless as to not know?

And yes, my daughter and I watch every episode together, and my whole family (wife and son included) watches "Queer Eye" together regularly. My only problem with these shows is stopping myself from blurting out things that might give away my otherwise closeted orientation (bi leaning gay) -- especially since I'm in love with both Wes (BMB) and Jal (QE).

It would not only be lame, but it would also be a big financial mistake.

Isn't it true that if James picks a straight guy that he (James) gets neither the guy nor any of the $25,000 prize money?

I think he still gets the vacation though (with Andra?).

Of course, maybe the vacation itself is worth $25,000. In which case, that would be a vacation to remember, even without Franklin!

I don’t know for sure that this is incorrect, but it doesn’t really make sense. I assume that the rewards and conditions are set up front. For this to be true, James would have to know that there was a possibility of picking a straight guy. Maybe I’m naïve, but everything I’ve read or seen consistently says that he is genuinely ambushed with that little twist.

RE: Effeminate

I wouldn;t go that far.

If by effeminate you mean "mincing," then no, nobody was effeminate. But Robb wasn't exactly butching it up either. James himself has a SLIGHTLY femme voice(one that plenty of straights have too, but you always seem to notice it more when you know they're gay IMO). The other guys were pretty neutral, with the exception of Dan, who was doing a little camping.

I guess we'll see more later, but I didn't view his reaction that way at all. He realized he'd been set up and wasn't going to give the bastards the satisfaction(and the footage) of seeing him blow up or break down. I thought that showed a lot more class than the producers of this show have shown(or were hoping for).

I've been trying to put a finger on what it is about this show that gets under my skin, and I realized it as I watched James' reaction to the news:

I'm not sure James is particularly realistic in his search on TV for a mate, but I DO believe he was sincere, and this twist is a real mindfuck. Especially since one of the little "traumas" most gay people go through in adolescence is that no matter how wonderful we might be, at least 90% of the people we are drawn to simply cannot reciprocate our desire.

Yeah, yeah, everyone has unrequited love, but not quite as much as we do by sheer force of numbers. And most of that what we go through in that regard is at least private. To set someone up for that on television is pretty low.

While if he had known from the start the "experiment" would have been "tainted," it still could have been interesting without being quite so cruel.

But I still think a better show would have been just 15 gay guys and one bachelor - instead of focusing on whether you can guess who's straight, they could have shown that most of us are looking for the same thing. And that would have gone farther, I think, in opening people's eyes than this very selctively edited guessing game.

I think you are correct about this, but I wonder what the next group of mates will go through. They really won't be able to hide the gay/straight twist because the next "James" should know that there are some straight guys.

RE: Effeminate

I was impressed that in his final statement, Robb said that he had learned to stop worrying whether someone might think he was effeminate. I thought from the first show I saw that he was the one who would be the most fun to spend time with, even if he wasn't the best looking or the most "butch", but I really don't think he had that much chemistry with James, whose tastes seem pretty conservative.

RE: Andra

I found the disclaimer. It says:

"The producers have consulted

with the leading man regarding

his choices of elimination, but

the leading man has made all

final decisions on his own."
