Thanks for the reply, Rusty. Unfortunately, Avatar Club is closed at this time, ?permanent, ? for the summer, who knows. I appreciate you taking the trouble to answer. I'm still looking and it seems many of the older clubs have shut down.

Funguy... Welcome! I am 3000 miles away and enjoy the NYBC so my information about your area is sketchy at best. However, I do recall hearing about the Southern California Bondage Club located in North Hollywood. I also recall hearing about something called the Threadhold Society where instruction is offered but I'm not sure if it is a club per say. My info my be dated or totally off base as it was from someone I met more than a few months back in NYC. In retrospect I am not even sure if these are all male clubs... Wish I could be of more help.

 

In any event, best of luck in your quest. Good things usually do come to those who wait... and persevere as well...

 

Hopefully the So Cal contingent can better advise you.

I'm by no means a bondage aficionado other than my brothers and friends (good ol' boyscout stuff, heheheh) tying each other up for fun or the very occasional light bondage I've done with a partner > So I'm curious, why would clubs or associations like that be shutting down? All I can say is that a dozen years ago there were more than a few specialist escorts in NY advertising BDSM. I mean TRUE SPECIALISTS with dungeons or at least a dedicated play space and/or sufficient equipment. Today many escorts in the City list BDSM as an interest, but very few know the ropes... Pun intended.

I can only add this, that there was a club called "Slammers" in LA. I have never been there, but know of several of my friends who visited the 'sex club' on a very regular basis. They were all into bondage, and told me of stories of what goes on. That being said, again I have never been there, nor did I do an Internet search before posting this.....it might be worth checking out however.

BVB... I get it you have not been there... Well I just did an internet search and not only is there a "Slammer" in LA but there is also one located in Fort Lauderdale... So you can not ever and "never" go there in Lauderdale either ;)... In any enent, it seems to be more of a "sex club" as you rightfully characterize it as opposed to a BDSM venue. Though over the past years what used to be characterized as strictly BDSM clubs... with "hall monitors" to make sure there was no monkey business transpiring... have slowly transformed into sex clubs... albeit of a more kinky variety.

lol...You're really forcing my hand here. Looks like I just might have to check this venue out, sooner rather than later. Someone told me the other day about 'Slammers' in FTL, however being naïve that I am, I thought it was a bar, and never made the connection to the 'sex club' in LA. I always resisted going to the one in LA as I heard that drug use was rampant on the inside.

 

I will take a chance and see how this club is. I am more receptive to broadening my experiences, so we will have to see. I do think as you say, that it is a 'sex club' with a kinky side.....Many thanks for starting the research for me...of course I will let you know about any adventures that might occur....

As for Boston, I met a guy from Boston at the NYBC a couple of months ago. He mentioned a BDSM party every 4th Saturday, but I have yet to get information about it. I was there with a fellow poster from Boston and even he can't seem to located the venue. Therefore if anyone has any additional information it would be appreciated. Yet I hate to hijack funguy's thread.

 

Regarding the allure of BDSM that could be a doctoral thesis. A few years ago I exchanged multiple emails with a escort who wanted to get into the scene, but needed to know WHY he was attracted to it all. Just that banter alone could have been the basis for such a thesis. Perhaps a thread in the Fetish Forum for those with any thoughts. As for myself, in a nutshell I prefer the S&M portion over the bondage aspects and consider it an alternate and intense way to make love... and at least from my point of view being humiliated need not be involved... However others would disagree.

Thanks very much Whipped Guy for your info and keeping this thread on track. I had contacted the SoCal Bondage Club but I have not received a reply. I think the Threadhold Society is really the Threshhold Society. I would prefer a guy's only club but am not totally picky.

Funguy... I have no clue how the So Cal Club operates, but the NYBC allows and encourages guests to attend their weekly gatherings for a higher entrance fee compared to the member fee. Just show up and you are welcome. Things can at times be hit and miss depending on the group of guys that attend. The last time I was there things really were jumping, other times it has been slow. However, there is usually something of interest transpiring even if it is not exactly your precise cup of tea.

 

Regarding the "Threadhold" society... I guess I was close... but no cigar!!!

 

If you ever get to NYC give a heads up... something tells me you are really a fun guy!!!
