Certainly sounds like you're better off skipping this guy. But as somebody who used to live in a small town, and works in a rather connected industry, I can't imagine why somebody would use their main email for this kind of correspondence... Especially as I'm closeted, I don't see why an escort could need my real name, since most don't use their real names... Probably pretty amusing as I stumbled over my own name the first time though.

It's very easy to setup a hotmail or yahoo account, and since you don't have to pay for them you're completely anonymous (as long as you don't leave a trail on the internet connecting the account to your real name..., or do something that gets LE interested).

One thing to keep in mind, be careful with any email from work. Employers have the right to monitor your computer usage and can easily monitor your work email. They can also monitor other non-secured internet communication (just noticed hotmail doesn't have the lock at the bottom of the IE window, this means anything I send through it goes in clear text and could be intercepted on its way out...). Even if it was secured, there are other things they can do, such as monitor keystrokes entered into your computer to read not only messages but get passwords for anything you'd accessed from there...

All that having been said I probably sound massively paranoid, and I'm not all that worried about these things for me personally. Escorts worth getting together with understand you want discretion.

Only thing I'm worried about is one misusing my phone number (shouldn't be a problem with any well-reviewed on M4M...) or something happening to them that results in their phone logs being looked at.

This is why I far prefer email to set things up, though I understand it's harder for the escort because they probably get a lot of email that ultimately doesn't result in anything. So I try email, if that doesn't work or I'm looking urgently I try calling them with ID blocked (*67), and if neither have worked I decide if its worth it to call without ID blocking and leave a number. In my little experience most well reviewed escorts aren't available right when you want them ( now! :9 ) so a casual setup through email is usually fine.

Lord! Whatever happened to professionalism? I never even thought about sending out mass e-mails - just think about the time it would have saved me over writing individualized messages to my clients; at least ten, fifteen minutes a day! What was I thinking?!?

No, this is definitely NOT cool, especially since you can send mass e-mails putting everyone's address in the "BCC" (meaning blind carbon copy) field when composing a message, so nobody will see who the message is going to. Mass e-mails with client address disclosure is not only extremely BAD style and bad manners, but should also be grounds for getting kicked out of the escort guild.

Doesn't anyone read the escort handbook anymore?

Sorry this happened to you. If you need to leave town, come to Europe with me. You can sit by the beach while I work to bring in the croissants. :-)

sometimes we all fuck up

I have to admit, that once, fairly early in my escort 'career', I made the same mistake. I figured it would save time and energy if I did mass emails, well not knowing that everyone would see everyone elses email address, I went ahead and sent one out. Well one guy emailed me to let me know that everyone else was visable, I freaked to say the least. I've always been strict on confinentiality, and here I blew it, big time.

I sent each person on that list an apology email and promised it would never ever happen again. I never heard from a lot of them again. Understandably.

Anyhow, I learned my lesson, and like Benjamin mentioned in an earlier post about personal touch, that is definatly something I aim for. I kind of find mass emails tacky, but hey I was a newbie: ) I've learned a lot since then.

And yes, sometimes spending a couple of hours each morning answering emails, when the beach is a block away, and half nekid men are calling to me, can be a bit of a chore. It's something I've strived to maintain, and will keep doing, until carpel tunnel (sp?)sets in: )

Matt thanks for your comments. I have been surprised (and pleased) by all the Escort's input on this Subject.
