Well Lee knows me well enough to know that too much Wagner would indeed kill me a bit too prematurely!!! Actually as far as Tristan und Isolde is concerned, I would probably want to listen only to the final "Liebestod" (pronounced Leigh.bess.toad for those not in the know)... and meaning "love death".

 

Regarding the Ring, definitely not the whole thing... possibly "The Ride" and then the "Immolation Scene" from Gotterdammerung... Though since I would be exiting the world for a better place (I hope) the "Entrance of the Gods into Valhalla" might be appropriate as well!

 

Still, if someone such as the other Tristan were to enter the room I might just forget about all this sophisticated musical stuff and take a somewhat more raunchy approach!

Thanks for the trip down memory lane Honcho. That was the first half of my senior recital so many years ago. I had a lot of friends who pitched in. A good friend was a conducting major with a specialty in Bach. His gf was a cellist and got all her string friends to join in. And I had the top oboist in the school as the oboist. His teacher worked with all of us, as did mine. I may have been the only one I know who ever had a full baroque orchestra for his senior recital. It was a blast. The second half was the Don Quichotte songs of Ravel, 3 songs of Respighi, and 3 songs of Sam Barber, ending with the perfect ending piece, "I Hear An Army".

 

I was the only one in my graduating class to get an A on his senior recital. Ah, the good old days.
