Matt Stevens is nowhere near 90. He admits to being 39. I'd say that is pretty accurate although I would have thought mid 30's if I hadn't seen his ad. I 1st met him in 2005 for an overnight. I have lived in DC all my life - in recent years I have rarely hired in DC - the quality just isn't there.

 

Before everyone jumps on the bandwagon that I'm wrong and there are Dave, Matt Stevens, etc. I prefer to hire guys in their 20s to early 30s so many of the escorts like Dave, Matt Stevens, etc. are not in the age range I prefer to hire. And I prefer well hung men that are totally versatile. I am generally not into total tops or total bottoms. For me, at least, flip-flopping is much more fun.

 

Most of the escorts I have hired in DC over the last couple of years are traveling escorts that are visiting DC - like Heath Jordan, Andrew Justice, etc.

DC seems to have a relatively robust population of younger gay men for a metro area of its size, but seems to lack on the escort front. Granted, DC will never be able to compete with the likes of NYC, LA, MIA/FLL or San Fran. But even compared to markets like Chicago or Boston, DC seems to lack younger escorts. Now, for older escorts, I think DC is quite competitive and has lots to offer!

The quality in the 30-50 range even is small compared to other cities the size of DC. There are a handful of 30-50 year olds that get raves from people that hire in that age range - only a few are mentioned with regularity.

 

30 years ago there were a couple of agencies that had many hot men working for them, mostly in their 20's. One of them, called The Stables would typically have 20 or more guys that were "on call" on a Friday or Saturday - most of them extremely good looking, most of them were 7.5 inches and up and other than a couple of top only guys, the guys were either versatile or bottoms. The ones that were versatile seemed to be mostly bottoms (DC has many times been referred to as a "City of Bottoms") and could be coaxed into topping.

 

There was another agency call Friendly Escorts (that eventually got busted and dismantled) that had 50 to 75 guys on their roster and typically had at least 30 guys available for calls on the weekends. At that point in time I was not particularly into three ways so I could try a different guy every weekend or every other weekend and always hire "fresh meat".

 

A couple of my most memorable hires were with these two agencies. One of the escorts that I hired finished up the call telling me he wanted to see me again privately (no fees involved) - we had a lot of chemistry and he was a fantastic top and a an equally good bottom with a big cock. In one of our non-escort get togethers he ended up hiring another escort from the agency that he had done a three with to do a three way with us.

Do you remember DC Boys? Chris and Clay were the guys who ran it and moved to NYC, they wanted to control the agency from there... Stupid, wasn't it? I'm surprised about all the guys you say those agencies had, DC Boys simply ran out of men, 2 hands-off lazy owners living in NYC and unable to interviewed new guys who needed cash NOW weren't helpful either.

 

I guess the beeper, internet and cellphones changed the rules, now you can escort on your own and you don't need an agent to pimp you in order to protect your privacy or not being at home waiting for your landline to ring. I remember that in the late 80's and early 90's escorts had beepers that freed their time a lot to have a life while waiting for $. Cellphones helped even more.

 

I also think that gay men of all ages suddenly out of the closet shrunk/shrank the market, I assume 30 years ago you were young and that's why that escort hooked up with you for free, now there's grindr...

Uuuuhhhh....lol lol, I've been in California my entire life, and for as long as I can remember my friends and I have been calling California, "Cali" or "SoCal".....about the only thing I refuse to do is call San Francisco, "Frisco". I have many friends in the bay area, and for some reason they just hate the name "Frisco". So out of respect for them, I refrain. But I think "Cali" is kind of endearing. ;)
