RIP indeed. The Rawhide was an old standby whenever I was staying in the Village. NYC is becoming like a foreign country for me. There is little left of the city that I knew when I lived in Chelsea in the 1960s.

I remember The Rawhide as the 1st Stop on The Bar Run on Weekends..The Rawhide/Eagle/Spike! The Original NYC Leather Bars of Chelsea!

 

Those were the Glory Days long gone with very Sad replacements! Lucky it lasted as long as it did though really!

That's sad! Rawhide was always on my "to do" list every time I went back to NYC.

i stopped here in December , Mike the bartender was very nice, the dancers were so-so., sorry to see it go.

Same old story. Greedy new landlord doubles the rent and kicks out a long-established business, in this case our oldest leather bar.
