I just found the 1927 book "The Grandmothers" by Glenway Wescott, and I wouldn't have known about the author if it had not been for the book "The Gay Book of Days."

"The Gay Book of Days" is mostly history, but it still is an interesting book. I started making a list of books and novels that the author recommended. It's really enriched my reading list.

Does anyone else have "The Gay Book of Days"?

Have never heard of the "Gay Book of Days" but I have read "The Grandmothers," which is generally considered Wescott's best novel (though "Goodbye, Wisconsin" was the one that made his reputation).

No, unfortunately never heard of it. Will look for it based on your recommendation.

It's a really easy read. It's set up with one entry about one person for every day of the year. It was also fun to try to guess the people he named in the back who were only identified by their initials.

Thanks for the recommendation. I haven't started it yet, but will probably read it before selling it.

It appears to be a first edition, and someone left it out on the curb. I'm glad I picked it up before it started raining!
