Im still green and not completely comfortable with handling money

Francois, there's nothing wrong with being "green" and get to learn the ropes. One thing you don't wanna be is green with envy.

Now straight to your question: Escorting is one of the only professions I know where you DON'T count the money when it's handled to you, simply because it was not all about the 'green' to start with.

Cheers!

If the cash or envelope in not in visible sight i usually ask them to just leave it on the table before we start our session and i also agree with Xander. Its always best to follow your instincts and see how the client communicats with you via text or email and if your still not sure about them then ask if u can call them, Its always good to put a voice to the words, that way both parties with can get an idea about each other before the meet.

When the first thing I hear out of an escorts mouth is something along the lines of "show me the money", I instantly think cop, sting, and jail!!!

Getting screwed on the money would suck but I am sure those poor waitresses etc feel the same way when someone walks their check etc. It doesn't mean that resataurants start charging for dinner before the meal.

Several comments above remind me of a separate but related thought I post about here from time to time: that email and txt are great, but it is so good to have four minutes of phone conversation in setting up a first encounter. You can know so much about each other by voice. Trust is so easy to establish in that medium, if both parties click with each other. Then the technicalities of payment, in my experience, tend to sort themselves out without all the sturm und drang.

I've been trying much harder to talk personally with people in DC, and they seem to appreciate it more and respond with setting up appointments more often.

After I made my post about the "wasted" six minutes, I thought this exactly. I have a client who I used to see for an hour. An hour dwindled down to 45 minutes. Sometimes 30. He was always antsy to see me because I was the highlight of his week. The fee never changed and he never questioned the time. The last time I saw him before I moved, something bad had happened and he called he and wanted me to come spend an hour. Four hours later, I finally left. I was more than happy to be there for him and the time spent was irrelevant.

Wow...good for you and for your client. Nice to hear that you are a stand-up guy.
